Not as good as you might think Review by: mp_wp_llawiw, Jul 28, 2010 |
| I really didn't like it. For a broadway production, it didn't have a strong plot. I started dozing off in the first act, but only woke up to the loud bang and the blackout. There really wasn't any significance behind the lyrics, and I wasn't impressed with the acting. If free tickets to this come across your way, by all means, see it. But I wouldn't pay even a discounted price to see it again. Very disappointed. |

Corbon and the Cast are outstanding Review by: Broadway John, Jul 27, 2010 |
| An upbeat, energenic and uplifting experience. The cast was young and filled with life and vigor. Good dancing and the songs especially "In the Heights and "96,000" were filled with engergy. Corbon Blue has grown up far removed from High School Musical and was well received in the show. The show is factpaced and even with the intermission is about two and a half hours long or should I say short. In the Heights can be seen by all ages over 10 ... read more so there was a good mix of people in the show. Having seen many musicals in my time there were less tourists at this show. More New Yorkers here which I am sure had to do with the substance of the musical. Go see it you will not be disappointed |

Hot Tamale, ITH!!! Review by: CogSci Music Maven, Jul 19, 2010 |
| If you don't want to sit through the other Latin-influenced musical on Broadway (West Side Story), I highly recommend this modern and anything BUT generic musical about life in the Washington Heights neighborhood. While the plot was probably the weakest part of the musical, it's minor weaknesses are offset by the outstanding performances of the whole cast INCLUDING Corbin Bleu, Olga Merediz, and Christopher Jackson. Most performing ... read more that night happened to be from the original cast so I was very lucky in that regard to see/hear them all together. I had a huge disconnect of Corbin from HSM and his work in IN THE Heights. He showed maturity in his voice, as well as his overall showmanship. Very few can pull off what the original Uznavi (Lin Manuel-Miranda) did, partially because that show was his baby, so I am giving Corbin major props for stepping up to the plate under what was probably a lot of pressure to live up to that role. Also, if you have any knowledge about Caribbean diaspora to NYC in the 20th-21st century, you will really admire the stories of the characters, in particular, Abuela's (Cuba in the 1940s) and Camila's parents (Puerto Rico). LOVED IT and recommend it to every one of my friends! |

Wow, A great Show , with a FIRST CLASS CAST Review by: Texas Dad, Jul 14, 2010 |
Went the past Saturday with my teenage Son. Was not expecting to be impressed. I see alot of shows so it takes a lot to move me. WRONG!!! WRONG!!!! From the first Song to the last, it was a High Energy, Feel GOOD musical. The vocals were as strong as any show I have seen. The dancing could not have been better. The Show was AMAZING. No let me tell you about this cast. Alot of Broadway actors (STARS) earn the reputation for being ... read more stuck up. So after the show this cast comes out the stage door and takes pictures and signs autographs and talks with the fans. ALL OF THE CASTS, Including Corbin Bleu, who proably stayed over an hour and signed for EVERYONE. As a Father of Teenagers, this impressed me, the Actors in this show could not have been kinder and thanked all of us for both coming to see the Show and staying to meet them afterwards. WOW!! WHAT CLASS If you find yourself in NEW YORK, with a free evening. I will recommend you go to "IN THE HEIGHTS". |

Pleasantly Surprising Review by: prourican, Jul 4, 2010 |
| Ecstasy, exuberance, euphoria. Things that are infrequently experienced in life, but which this wonderful production prove are creatable. My best Broadway experience in my 51 years on earth. Olga Merediz as Abuela Claudia, Christopher Jackson as Benny, Rick Negron as Kevin, Bianca Marroquin as Daniela and all the other wonderful cast members show forth the huge difference between acting only with the intellect, the body or the emotions, ... read more as opposed to your whole being, as these performers do, creating an atmosphere of accessibility to being touched by that which pleasantly surprises us. |

GREAT SHOW But No Corbin!!! Review by: LittleCorbinFan, Jul 1, 2010 |
| "In the Heights" was a Great show and my wife and especially my daughter LOVED this show!! The cast was great especially "Benny" after the show Benny took the time to talk with my daughter extensively(a little to the point of angering some other theater goers that were also waiting for an autograph) but my daughter REALLY enjoyed the time he spent chatting with her. she is 7yrs. old and this was her Third Broadway show (Mary Poppins, and Shrek ... read more the other two)The ONLY complaint I have is that the main reason for her seeing this show was she wanted to see and meet Corbin Bleu The theater and everyone associated with In The heights Neglected to tell the audience that Corbin was on Vacation this week. Disappointing all of his fans (My daughter especially)that came to see him. Aren't they supposed to announce when someone as big as him were not going to be in the show??? KUDOS to Benny and the rest of the cast BUT NOW I have to bring my daughter BACK to New york two more times to see this show One to see Corbin and another to see Jordan Sparks when she gets in the show starting August 19th. |

No. Review by: animalgirlxo, Jun 13, 2010 |
So uh, what was the show about? A girl getting kicked out of college, heat in Washington Heights, and $1.25 for ice? Not only was there a limited story, the lyrics were meaningless. They could've spoken the lyrics, and it would've had the same effect. I saw this for a school trip, and I must say, this was not a good choice. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, but it must be because they haven't been exposed to good Broadway shows. I'll admit,... read more, I was impressed with Corbin Bleu's live performance, but I couldn't find a plot to the show. The female leads were also annoying to listen to, and could've used more emotion. I wish I liked this show, I just couldn't. |

Would see it again! Review by: sarie, Jun 12, 2010 |
| Absolutely fantastic! Great singing. The actors brought so much passion and emotion to the story. Saw it with Corbin in it and thought he was really good-- I didn't even recognize him as being from high school musical. The play was funny, and an overall pleasure. |

Have seen it twice and will definatley be going back for more and more and more! Review by: I believe in Chris Jackson!, May 23, 2010 |
| Spectacular show! I did not grow up in an area like Washington Heights, but after seeing the tight knit community, it makes me long for one of my own. I love the connection it gave me to "my people" (Puerto Ricans!), even though I have not felt one my entire life. I do not speak spanish or follow many of the customes, but after seeing this show I will definatley get started on working on becoming a better Puerto Rican!! |
