J Pierpont as portrayed by a robot, horrible case of miscasting Review by: yankelover, Apr 8, 2011 |
| Daniel Radcliff Plays the role of Finch as a robot.Every line feels forced and unnatural.I loved both the movie and Mathew Broderick in the title role when last played on Broadway.Radcliff was totally miscast in this role. This version was also boring and every joke was forced and missed the mark.Everyone seems to be surprised that he could sing and dance,Which he can,The problem is,he cant do any of it well.If you wish to see J Pierpont Finch as ... read more a robot. Then you may enjoy this version, otherwise, stay home and watch the movie |

Run, don't walk to see this show!!! Review by: Love the theater!, Apr 7, 2011 |
| Get tickets to see this amazing show! You will not be disappointed. Worth every dollar you paid for the ticket! I went with my husband and two daughters ages 18 and 15. We loved every minute. The cast is great! Daniel R. plays the part of Ponte TERRIFIC! Congratulations to him. He can sing and dance and is truly funny. I loved him as Harry Potter and would see any show he will perform in the future. |

Succeeds On every possible level possible Review by: rskblueyes, Apr 6, 2011 |
When I first heard that Daniel Radcliffe was cast as the lead, I sneered "celebrity stunt casting" and wrote this show off. Boy was I wrong! Daniel is a broadway triple threat and cant belive this was his first try at musical theatre. Now we go that out of the way, let me continue with the rest of the production which ended up being beyond my expecations.. Everything from the set, costume, chorregraphy, and performances of the leads ... read more to the ensemble were outstanding. I honestly can say this production was flawless. This 50 year old show remains fresh and entertaing and not like a mothballed musuem like the other revival musical that is in previews. What is also wonderfull is that Radcliffe is bringing young viewers to the theatre due to his star power. I think this show is an excellant introduction for our youth and hopefully this will wet their appetites to see more shows.

Loved the show Review by: mom, Apr 3, 2011 |
| We really enjoyed the production. My father,81 years old, my daughter 15, and the rest of our group all came out of the production feeling that we had had a wonderful time. We go to the theater quite often and would see this again. |

Outrageously Funny Review by: patsy1131, Mar 28, 2011 |
| I recommend this show to all those with a sense of humor. To my surprise I laughed so much, my cheeks hurt. The cast was great but there was one actor that makes me laugh just the thought of her role, Hedy LaRue, played by Tammy Blanchard. My Goodness, she was outrageously funny, so funny I just have to see the show again soon. |

Review by: , Mar 23, 2011 |
| John Larroquette was so brilliant in a challenging role. He proved again he is a comic genius. Radcliffe's dancing was hot and his natural presence was electric. The shrieking females in the audience overreacting to Radcliffe also added a fun energy. The supporting characters were great, including Radcliffe's (sexy) nemesis, Christopher J. Hanke. Staging/Direction/Choreography was inspired. I couldn't clap or hoot loud enough. |

Family Appeal Review by: Carol, Mar 23, 2011 |
| For an absolutely electric night of theatre, nothing will beat this Broadway classic. Diminutive Daniel Radcliffe is a powerhouse of talent. I last saw ALL of him in Equus, a serious drama. However, he does musical comedy equally well. I had never seen him in the Harry Potter movies, but he is a genuine Broadway star who surprised me with his energy and dancing ability. The choreography in the play is second to none done ... read more by Rob Ashford and should win a Tony. Go, and take the kids to what Broadway is known for: a cute story appealing to all, good staging and props, a couple of big names in the cast: John Laroquette and Daniel Radcliffe, and a talented troupe of actors. |

Mea Culpa Review by: Amelia Zofia66818, Mar 21, 2011 |
Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. A wart on my nose in my recent review (by Amelia Zofia). It obviously was not J. Pierrepont Finch's relationship with Smitty, but with Rosemary Pilkington. |

Daniel can indeed to it all: He's great!!!! Review by: Momster, Mar 20, 2011 |
| Who knew the boy who lived would blossom into the guy who can do it all!!! I wanted Daniel to be good but he surprised me and turned about to be utterly fanstastic. Having loved Bobby Morse (who orignated the role)I was skeptical if anyone could be the new "Ponty" and Daniel makes it his own with sheer talent, determination, charisma and charm. John Laroquette is also fabulous as the goofy boss as is the rest of the cast, sets, ... read more costumes and musical numbers. I am so happy that Daniel can really sing and dance and am sure he will win the Tony. Yes, this show is traditional Broadway and my advice is go see it!!!! |

"How to Succeed" has indeed succeeded. Review by: Amelia Zofia, Mar 20, 2011 |
When Daniel Radcliff first appeared, it was clear, by the thunderous applause, that this was not his first rodeo. As I had never seen a Harry Potter move, or read a Harry Potter novel, I reserved judgment. By the end of the second act, I chimed in with the thunderous applause: Harry can sing, dance, act, and Broadway with the best of them. Fortunately, he is most propitiously complemented by a great cast led by John Laroquette,... read more, Rob Bartlett (Don Imus's former voice magician),all the female leads, excellent choreography, and outstanding humor. If there were any warts, it might have been a relively slow beginning as you get to know the cast of characters and their personality traits, and almost a plastic, platonic relationship between Finch and Smitty, but that was overcome by everything else including two show stopper songs: Old Ivy in Act one that includes the Old Ivy football team complete with leather helmets, ouside the shirt shoulder pads, and eye black, some slow-motion scenes and side splitting humor; and the Brotherhood of men in Act II, just prior to the finale. If you want to see this side of Radcliff, my opinion is you better get there fast; I just feel he has so many irons in the fire, that he will have a limited run, although the play itself will be there longer and probably win some awards. |

Harry Potter can actually sing and dance! Review by: Aim, Mar 19, 2011 |
| Daniel Radcliffe is absolutely terrific as Finch. His singing voice is more than pleasant and his dancing is inspired. The choreography is actually clever. One complaint- although Rose Hemingway is excellent, she and Daniel do not generate much chemistry. John Larroquette is perfect in the role. A lot of fun and pure enjoyment. Excellent production. |

A Real Buzz in the Audience Review by: Monkeybiz, Mar 16, 2011 |
| I go to tons of shows. Loved this one. We could sense as we entered, the crowd was electric. Of course, everyone was excited to see "Harry Potter" in person. And he is excellent. But it's much more than that. Every scene pulls you in. I smiled the whole time. What a cast! Practically every actor possessed the stage presence to carry a scene. And the choreography--second to none, and funny, funny. Go see it now, before it's a high demand ticket,... read more, which it is sure to be. It's rare on B'way for scenes to come close to bringing people to their feet before the encore, but this one almost did it. Much applause. Bravo! |

How to Succeed on Boardway Review by: RustyZ, Mar 15, 2011 |
| A better production than the last time around (with Matthew Broderick in the lead), the sets, costumes and choreography all shine through. The staging brought a freshness to the material as well. Daniel Radcliffe does well for himself with a sweet voice and a childlike energy. He unfortunately is a bit stiff at times and hopefully will become more comfortable in the role in the coming weeks. |
