Li'l Bit Disturbing...Must See!!!! Review by: Diract 66, Mar 10, 2012 |
| This was an excellent production of a very disturbing play. Although we see the humor in some life situations, it is all over shadowed by the effect of a child molester on a young innocent. The final scene of his initial action on her is very dramatic theatre, but are we then to have pity on him? I think not! THe acting by all involved was superb. Mr. Butz makes his character likeable and one to hat at the same time. Elizabeth Reaser is ... read more terrific changing from 11 to 18 and older throughout the play. Also the ensemble of three are excellent changing characters in Li'l Bits life. A good show not too be missed, but remember the theme may be very disturbing for many to see. |

Important Theatre Review by: Carol, Feb 16, 2012 |
| How I Learned to Drive, the current revival at the Second Stage Theatre, is a riveting study of corruption of questionable innocence by all the adults surrounding L’il Bit (Elizabeth Reaser), the victim of a pedaphile. It is always wrong to blame the victim; however, L’il Bit seems at times an all-too-willing participant in Uncle Peck’s (Norbert Leo Butz) perverted games. Chalk that up to her hunger for a father figure. The play is masterfully ... read more performed by the leads and the supporting Greek chorus of actors who assume various roles in the story. The panoply of excuses about why Uncle Peck does what he does is really swept under the rug with his wife’s, “We don’t talk about that” or placing blame on the results of World War II. This is a good evening’s entertainment about a dark subject. |

Don't Miss This Powerful Revival! Review by: , Feb 11, 2012 |
This is one of most powerful and thought provoking plays that I have seen in a long time. The cast, led by Norbert Leo Butz and Elizabeth Reaser, is superb. The supporting actors are equally excellent. The play leaves the viewer with many questions. This is a limited run. Go see it! |

Revival of a Pulitzer that's worth seeing again Review by: Legs, Feb 4, 2012 |
| The production is as excellent as the playwriting. Butz and Reaser are wonderful; the Greek chorus is, as well. This is a disturbing story, one that happens all around us without our awareness, from Penn State to our own neighborhoods. (The revival of "Drive" is always well-timed.) Norbert Leo Butz as the alcoholic pedophile is a sharp contrast to his other roles and he absolutely nails all the layers of this character. |

Riveting Play Review by: viewer, Feb 4, 2012 |
| The play focuses on the issues of control and manipulation. At times the play can be extremely dark. Excellent performances by a great cast. Norbert Leo Butz gives a very convincing and disturbing performance. The subject is definitely only for adults. Unfortunately we can relate the play to many real life situations that are constantly in the news. |

Very Good Performance Review by: Drama Fan, Feb 1, 2012 |
| The play is well done with fine acting from Mr. Butz, Ms. reaser and the other supporting cast members. The story is cleverly written showing why it won the Pulitzer Prize in the late 1990's. The story harkens us back to those steamy, hot summer nights when love and lust were in the air, even if inappropriate. Recommended for adults only. |
