EXCELLENT SHOW, UNFORTUNATELY CANCELLED Review by: , Dec 23, 2006 |
| Hot feet was an amazing show! Whoever says it wasn't must not know dance because the choreography was great. Maybe it was a little repetative, but the energy was there! It was also exciting to see Samantha Pollino on stage, I have danced at competitions with her and she has amazing talent. Great job cast and Maurice Hines!!!! |

| I know that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, they must be some down right boring people because in my opinion, the show was absolutely wonderful! I took my 7 year old son who is a huge Earth, Wind and Fire fan and, he loved it as well. He actually wanted to see it again and then we learned that it had been cancelled. What a shame that we don't support. The cast was very good and extremely nice and friendly. I can only ... read more hope that something comparable returns to broadway soon. |

Disappointment - needs work before going on road. Review by: , Jul 24, 2006 |
| I saw 2nd to last performance. I was very disappointed. Story was very weak. Dancing started off OK for 1st dance and went downhill from there. Devil was funny, best actor in show. Hot feet dance made no sense at all to me. Wasn't even dancing, just lot of out of control shaking. I had discount tickets but would have kept money if I knew how bad it was. |

Read the revews, saw the play and enjoyed it Review by: Fran, Jul 23, 2006 |
| I read all the reviews and saw it anyway. It was the last performance. While there was some parts that were rough, I enjoyed the play. I paid to be entertain and I wasn't disappointed. The dancing and the music were delightful. They said that they were taking the play on the road. I wish them the best. I hope that they improve the bad part (which every play has) and keep the level of energy. |

Move Out Hot Feet! Review by: showgoindoc, Jul 11, 2006 |
| This is a disapointing show--The dancing is athletic and enjoyable but the libretto fails horribly. There is no corelation between the musical lyrics and the action of the show! Bring back "Movin' Out"! |

| Had some free time and chose to see this show. I was not disapointed. I saw the full cast and have to say that their talent was amazing! The story line was a bit hum drum, but all else made up for it. The dancing was a pleasure to watch. The music was fun! Just what you go to a Broadway show for. I found the show to be of Broadway caliber despite other reviews and as a high school dance teacher feel it would be inspiring to my students. ... read more Have some fun and go see it!!! |

HOT FEET! --HOT DANCING! HOT MUSIC! HOT SHOW! Review by: AUNTIE F, Jul 5, 2006 |
| I heard many conflicting reviews of this show...from : "don't bother" to "the second act was very disturbing." Well, guess what, don't pay attention to anyone else's opinoins. See the show and gather your own opinions! But, if you want a positive slant on the show, take my advice: go see it. The dancing was powerful and graceful, the music pulsing and riviting, and the dancing/acting cast was incredible. On second thought, listen to some ... read more people's reviews; especially if they are positive. |

HOW DO YOU BLOW A HUGE BUDGET ON SUCH A BAD PLAY Review by: POOGIE, Jul 5, 2006 |
| THIS SHOW WAS LIKE WATCHING BEJAMIN MOORE PAINT DRY...I FELT SORRY FOR SUCH A TALENTED CAST WITH NO TRUE DIRECTION. WHAT GOOD IS GREAT MUSIC WITH NO SINGING. IT WAS LIKE WATCHING A BAD MUSIC VIDEO THAT WOULD NEVER END. THE SOUND QUALITY OF THE BAND WAS THE BEST I'VE EVER HEARD-THE BAND WAS FULL OF ENERGY-BUT THE CAST NEVER GOT THE MEMO. THE DANCES ARE FLAT-MOST OF THEM LOOKING LIKE WARM UPS RATHER THAN AN AMAZING DANCE. WHY ISN'T ... read more VIVIAN NIXON COMING TO WORK-THAT IS THE QUESTION-THE MALE LEAD UNDERSTUDY WAS GEORGEOUS AND KEPT MY FULL ATTENTION-IF YOU PUT THE RED SHOES, THE WIZ, THE LION KING, SHOWGIRLS AND STAYING ALIVE IN A BLENDER-I GUESS YOU WILL POUR OUT THIS MESS OF A MUSICAL. TOO BAD FOR ALL THOSE POOR CAST MEMBERS WHO WILL EVENTUALLY BE UMEMPLOYED. MAURICE YOU ARE A LITTLE "OLD HAT" TO BE PUT IN CHARGE OF SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN AS POWERFUL AS THE ORIGINAL "WIZ" |

WARNING this is a NO GO..save your money and see SOMETHING ELSE! Review by: , Jul 1, 2006 |
| DO NOT WASTE your time, we paid half price and wanted to see if we could get a refund! We saw a Saturday NIGHT performance with THREE understudies (two being the lead characters)...This is not Broadway caliber. The female ensemble dancers had more technique and stage presence then the leads and the majority of the men were hired for their bodies rather then talent. This show is reminiscent of a high school musical, without your kid starring it!... read more! Rent FAME… |

A rather short- and painful, review Review by: Leslie, Jun 23, 2006 |
Despite critics words, and being a HUGE Debbie Allen- and any relation of hers fan, I decided to go see Hot Feet. I wish I hadn't. My first clue should have been the note in the program saying that the role of Kalimba (played by Debbie Allens' daughter), was being played by her understudy. I took my seat, and watched an uneven show, moving from breath taking dance moves, to praying for intermission. There were a great deal of ... read more 'men without shirts' dancing- most enjoyable, but at times pointless. They did elicit a great deal of female squeals so I guess that's what they wanted. The story is a variation of 'The Red Shoes' in which a young dancer gets a pair of enchanted dance shoes that force her to continually dance until she dies. In this show, Kalimba goes against her mothers wishes and joins a famous dance company. She soon becomes the star of the company, dancing roles formerly danced by the company's aging star. The director of the company gives her both the lead in his new show Hot Feet, and a beautiful pair of red sparkle dance shoes- that happen to be enchanted. When she puts them on, she can't stop dancing. The dancing is exciting, electrifying, spellbinding, then forced and almost mechanical. Kalimba dances herself to death, leaving us with the lesson that you should always listen to your mother. At times the dancing became amateur, and rather dull. The major speaking characters preform fabulously- it was the script, direction, and the choreography that were flawed. Even the wonderful music of Earth Wind and Fire, can't save this sinking ship of a show. The only favorable thing that I can say about Hot Feet, is where can I get a pair of those red sparkle dance shoes? Without the enchantment of course!

Well, that was a waste of time. Review by: Tippy, Jun 23, 2006 |
| Okay, here's the truth about Hot Feet. While the performers are grade A talent. the production, direction (if there is any), and choreography are equal to a dance schools recital. As I sat there hoping to enjoy the show and truely wanted to the best - as soon as the curtain went up and the audience watched a pair of shoes (doing nothing but placed there in bad lighting) for almost the entire overture I said to myself...this isn't a good sign. ... read more Then the choreography started. Incredible leaps, turns, splits at first - then I saw the same leaps, turns, flips, and splits throughout the whole show, didn't matter what number it was it kept on coming...the same steps, and most of all they were too, too long so by the time you get to the "Ballet" you just don't care because you've seen it all before. Nothing inventive, or visually stimulating. The scenes were unforgivable. If you are going to take on the role of director then you should be able to direct. Nothing made sense and you wind up asking yourself...if not laughing at the direction..."What are they doing?" I actually felt sorry for the actors. So, in conclusion the show is neither worthy of Broadway, or even a half priced ticket. Definetely not recommended for kids!!! Sad to say, but if you do go you will purely be going to support the performers. Boooo Mr. Maurice Hines |

Wow! What a waste! Review by: Sandy D., Jun 22, 2006 |
| Well, I went to see Hot Feet and have to say while the cast work unbelievably hard you have to ask yourself....for what. This is the worst piece of theater I think I've ever seen. In all honesty I went with an open mind hoping to have the critics reviews made into lies...unfortunately I found that not only were they correct, but generous. What was Maurice Hines thinking. He certainly wasn't directing...at all. Are you really a director? ... read more Where have you studied? Even the choreography was silly. I started to see the same 12 steps over and over again, but done by different dancers...who, again I say were incredible. Hopefully they've paid their dues and can now go on to a real Broadway calibre show. Entertaining??? No! It's the music that gets you going thats it. The main actors I thought were great, Vivian beautiful, the devil excellent, and Michael Balderama, sexy, but you wind up feeling sorry for them because they're in a crap piece of theatre. It really did come across as a poorly funded High School performance...I can't even say production. Would not recommend it for children under 16 lots of profanity. That's it! Hot feet should be a study in what a bad musical looks like. Pay the cast off (lord knows they deserve thousands), and cast off broadway. Pretty insulting to a paying consumer...even if they were marked down tickets. Shame on you mr. Hines and you producers!!! |
