Review by: Gary, Jul 22, 2012 |
| Fun show if not extraordinary, but since I knew the show well (I played Elwood in my High School production almost 40 years ago!) that did not surprise me. Excellent production, excellent cast led by Jim Parsons and Jessica Hecht who were wonderful. If Mr. Parsons were not going back to TV in 2 weeks I would guess that this might run for another 6 months or so. Really enjoyed it. |

Fun, but disappointing. Review by: DoctorJoeE, Jul 8, 2012 |
| I wanted so much to like this production, because I'm a big fan of the play (and the movie), and I was hoping to see another side of Jim Parsons' craft. When a young actor takes on an iconic role, s/he must make it his/her own -- that is, turn in an original interpretation. Unfortunately, Parsons has succumbed to the "imitation temptation", and not once, but twice: He plays Elwood with the same laconic deadpan he uses for his TV character,... read more, combined with many of the same inflections Jimmy Stewart used in the film; he imitates not only Stewart, but himself as well. And as with most imitative performances, timing suffers; some passages weren't nearly as funny as they should have been, and the signature line, "I recommend pleasant...you can quote me", elicited almost no response at all. There are certainly bright spots: Jessica Hecht is very good as Veta; Charles Kimbrough, the veteran who has seemingly been in everything, is a great Dr. Chumley; and Carol Kane makes the most of a minor role as Betty Chumley. It's not a bad production -- just less good than it could have been had Parsons chosen an original interpretation of his role. It's a tough ticket, due largely, I'm sure, to Parsons' star power, so plan ahead. |

Incredible show! Review by: Erika, Jun 8, 2012 |
| This show was AMAZING. I went for Parsons, being a huge fan of his work, but every actor in the show was spectacular and worthy of praise. All of the aspects of production were well done, but I'd particularly like to commend the sets - really beautiful work, and really helped pull the audience into the play. This was a laugh-out-loud funny show at times, and at other times was incredibly touching. Overall a sweet, exceptional show that I'd ... read more term a must-see. I wish I could see it again. |

A REAL LAUGH! Review by: BigKen, Jun 7, 2012 |
| I never saw the movie and went to the show not expecting anything! From the getgo, I began laughting and that carried through the entire performamce. Jim Parsons is an established Broadway actor now! He stole the show. If you want to see something light hearted and FUNNY, go see HARVEY. |

Harvey is a wonderful ensemble piece Review by: broadwayfrannyk, Jun 2, 2012 |
| We saw Harvey today and all I can say is that it was delightful. I usually prefer musicals but there was something special about this sweet play. The acting was so good and I found myself really paying attention to every word and watching the actors's expressions instead of wondering when the next song was coming. Every actor in the play had great timing and really played off each other. Jim Parsons is outstanding in a role that he has ... read more made his own. Love Harvey, Jim, Jessica, Carol............... Review by: Legs, May 30, 2012 |
| Harvey is great fun! Jim Parsons, excellent in The Normal Heart, is equally terrific in this comedic role. His timing is impeccable and he makes the whole show work. This is a guaranteed good time in the theater. |

Amazing show Review by: Alex, May 24, 2012 |
| This show was wonderful, Jim Parsons was excellent and brought an understated humor to this role. Every actor in this production seemed to have their moment to shine, and it all worked together so nicely. The sets were gorgeous. If you can get to this show I would recommend seeing it, it won't disappoint. |

Preview Weekend for "Harvey" Review by: Big Apple Weekender, May 24, 2012 |
| We were fortunate enough to see the preview of "Harvey" last weekend. Jim Parsons was spectacular as Elwood. We laughed out loud so many times and the time flew by! We had, of course, heard that Jim was in the play, but were delighted to find Carol Kane (Simka from Taxi) and Charles Kimbrough (Jim from Murphy Brown) were also in the play. Excellent jobs by both. So much expression and so many laughs. The set design was wonderful. ... read more The actors received a standing ovation and shouts of 'bravo' and it was well deserved. |

Harvey, you cwazy wabbit!! Review by: Cat, May 22, 2012 |
| We just saw the broadway show Harvey starring Jim Parsons and Jessica Hecht on Saturday 5/19. It was fantastic!! This classic isn't easy to pull off but Jim is the perfect Elwood and Jessica was fabulous as Veta. The whole cast was top notch and delivered a hilarious and touching performance. Definitely a must-see. We loved it! |
