Great show, talented actors, will definitely see again Review by: Brenda and Caro, Aug 12, 2007 |
| Hairspray is amazing. We particularly loved the performance of Daniel Robinson as Link. He brings talent, energy, and good looks to the show. He sounded and look great. Michelle Dowdy was fantastic as well. We will definitely see it again. |

WOW.. Review by: PENNYPINKLETIN, Aug 12, 2007 |
| WOW! I am writing this review as i JUST came back from the show and it's hard to type becuase my hands are still shaking from the amazement... "Hairspray" is simply amazing. The songs are works of art, the sets are great and the cast flawless. The jokes are so funny and there are so much, it feels like it's illegal to breathe.. I would recomend this show to anyone above the age of eight. ( Very little and minor language and a little sexaul ... read more overtone in some parts. ) Otherwise, I would give this 1,000 stars if it was possible out of five. I.E - GO SEE THIS SHOW NOW!! IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD IT.. SELL YOUR HOUSE AND LIVE IN A BOX!!! |

GOOD, but NOT GREAT! Review by: RALPHIE, Aug 6, 2007 |
GOOD but definitely NOT great! The first act was enjoyable but Act Two was shreeked (not sung) and it was impossible to understand the words to the songs. Picky! Picky! Picky! you might say, but even songs like "Da do run run" ought to be heard and understood by the audience; not yelled or shreeked.
KUDOS to grandma and grandpa. The teenagers in this story, set in 1961, are now approximately 68 years old. Popular music of ... read more that era (unlike 2007) was excellent and was enjoyed by kids, teens, grown ups and seniors. Although the music in HAIRSPRAY is not 1961 music but original for the show, the style of it is similar.
This show is good natured and lots of fun, but it isn't performed as well as Mamma Mia or Xanadu; both loud but no shreeking.

A very good show - See it! Review by: Theatergoer since childhood, Jul 30, 2007 |
| This was one of six shows I saw in one week. I would say that this was the second best. Everything was very good. I did not know in advance what the plot would be and I was very pleasantly surprised. The acting was good and very fresh, not at all an "oh well, here we go again' feeling from the cast. The lead actress was wonderful and I enjoyed everybody's performances. The music was excellent and the musical numbers were well performed. I ... read more would have liked to have seen a little less cliched roles for the women who were the "bad guys" but the actors did a good job with those roles nonetheless. All in all, a fun evening and well worth the time and money. I'm looking forward to the movie so that the plot, which was very good, can be fleshed out a little more. I think that will make a very interesting and entertaining movie. |

LOVED THIS SHOW!! MUST SEE!!!!!! Review by: Candace, Jul 19, 2007 |
| Hairspray was beyond any expectations I may have had for my first Broadway show! Didn't care to see it at first but got an EXCELLENT deal through BroadwayBox but I LOVED IT!!! I was with my son and daughter, ages 10 & 12 and they loved it!! My husband and father-in-law loved it just as much! So, for all ages, male and female, Hairspray is the show to see! The stage sets, the music, the performances, the actors....the list goes on and on! I ... read more cannot get excited enough about this show! Definitely bitten by the theatre bug and I have Hairspray to thank for it! MUST SEE!!! Would see it again if I lived in NYC! |

Great fun show Review by: Frosty, Jul 13, 2007 |
| This is a great enjoyable show. The acting was great, storyline easy to follow, and music was superb. Great for the family with children (we brought out 6 year old). Just a fun show. Children can have questions about racism afterwards. |

HAIRSPRAY STILL ROCKS THE HOUSE DOWN!! Review by: RAPHAELV, Jul 8, 2007 |
Hairspray is still the most entertaining show on Broadway. The new cast is outstanding, particularly Alexa Vega, Ashley Parker Angel & Darlene Love. The music, singing, dancing, costumes, wigs and staging are really fun and spectacular. The show has a large cast of incredibly talented people. You can feel the positive, toe-tapping energy the entire 2 1/2 hours. The message of Hairspray is as fresh today as when the movie opened without ... read more being at all preachy. |

After a few years on broadway, Hairspray has lost its "umph." Review by: bill, Jun 29, 2007 |
| Having seen the show a few years after it opened, I found it very dull and sloppy. Between Edna forgetting his lines and constantly breaking character and obvious mistakes every other dance step, this show was nothing but high school quality. The script and story may be very good, but it was hidden by the lowsy actors. |

Funny show for adults/high school age Review by: pattylorie, Jun 6, 2007 |
| Hairspray was a funny laugh out loud comedy that touched on Segregation and change in the 60s. The comedy is definitely for the age range of high school age students to adults. I wouldn't take an elementary student to this show because of the sexual overtones in some of the scenes. Middle school aged students would probably be able to handle it. |
