Most fun I've had at the theater Review by: Mickey, Jan 13, 2008 |
| If your looking for a show that will make you get up on your feet and dance, this is your show. I would recommend this show to anyone who wants to have a good time. I laughed so hard I cried, and the cast was supurb. I felt there were some glitches in the story but other than that it was and excellent show. |

Very funny show! Review by: Jill, Dec 10, 2007 |
| Fabulous! Had me laughing hysterically. Went with three friends ages 30 through 50 and we all absolutely loved it. This play is suitable for all ages! My 13 year old daughter went with my girlfriend (who saw it twice)and her daughter and they loved it too. My daughter could not stop talking about it. |

Better Than The Movie!! Review by: MsActress2U, Nov 17, 2007 |
| Out of all 5 shows I saw this one was my favorite during my trip. Acting and voice quality were amazing. The score is the best part of the show. All the songs are catchy and perfect. You also will cry a lot....from laughter!!!!! All seats are very good in this intimate theatre. This is perfect for the whole family because it sends a perfect message that you can do anything no matter your shape or size:) |

Great show! Review by: kelly, Oct 23, 2007 |
Saw the show Oct 19th, 2007. So Great!!! Loved Jim Bullock & Paul Vogt ! Great team - loved the ad libbing during their song together! So funny. My husband said he is glad to have seen the movie first so he could keep up with the show better. Our seats were $70 with disc. Orch. I-1,3,5 - very nice. Got these the day before online. Tried a number of times before getting these aisle seats.
Try to get seats orch or mezz ... read more on the right aisle for a fun bit. You'll see! |

Your cheeks will hurt from smiling -- this is a must see!!!!!!! Review by: DEM, Oct 15, 2007 |
| FABULOUS!!!! I caught the October 14, 2007 matinee on a whim. I did not have particularly high expectations and nearly decided to see Legally Blond instead. Hairspray got the nod because it began an hour later. I am beyond thrilled that I ended up at this show. I had a huge smile on my face from the first notes of the opening number and my smile did not fade at any point at any point throughout this fantastic musical. I sang the songs as I ... read more walked back to my hotel and I am listening to the original Broadway recording (bought at the show) as I write this review. Hairspray is a JOY. You will not be able to stop smiling or laughing. The numbers are catchy and exciting, the cast is marvelous (everyone gave 120%) and the performers seem to be having a ball, which makes the experience even more FUN. If you can get a seat close to the stage, DO! There is no orchestra separating audience and stage. If you sit close, it is as if you are on stage. Additionally, there are several surprises for those who sit near the stage. I wish I could have waited for the cast just to say THANK YOU for such a great time, but I had to return to my hotel to catch a cab back to the airport. The talent, hard work, and enthusiasm of the cast made my entire stay in NYC that much more memorable. I can't wait to go back to see this again. BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Great fun -- great cast! Review by: Granfan, Sep 16, 2007 |
| Just saw this show today with our two granddaughters, ages 13 and 14. They loved it, we enjoyed it. Not really anything specifically memorable, but fun. Cast very gracious about autographs and pictures after the show, especially Shannon Durig, Paul C. Vogt, Lance Bass, Ashley Parker Angel,Tevin Campbell, and Niki Scalera. Their talent and obvious delight in meeting fans made it extra special for the girls. |

Silly String Review by: Sandy, Aug 29, 2007 |
| The show was so fun it was like a blast of silly string in the face. The humor is contageous. The melodies are catchy and fun. The whole energy of the show made me feel great. And that's mostly due to Paul C Vogt's Edna. He was awesome. I wish he was in the film... it would have been SO much better. Lance Bass is ok. Jerry the Beaver is not. Paul Vogt really saves the day here! He is awesome. |

Astonishing- great actors, great set, costumes, choreography, songs, book, production... PHENOMENAL! Review by: Tucker, Aug 27, 2007 |
| Absolutely amazing! The can is not empty. I will admit that Jerry is the weakest link in the show, but he's leaving soon. I can't say enough about this show. |

The Can's Empty Review by: Mark McKirdy, Aug 24, 2007 |
My daughter and I saw Hairspray on a recent visit to New York. While some of the numbers were energetically adequate and most of the principals' interpretations robust, the presence of Jerry 'The Beaver' Mathers contributed significantly to the show's absence of impact. Jerry was so wooden I thought he was one of the props, and while he hit many right notes, they were always in the wrong places. The only consistency ... read more to his was performance was his stiff-legged beeline for centre stage, no doubt inspired by the terrified anticipation that at any moment, the hook would appear from the wings and drag him off. Leave it to Beaver to reduce an already tepid musical to a series of mediocre melodies made even more forgettable by lacklustre lyrics.
Hairspray was one of the few shows I've seen where I left the theatre humming the interval.
