| My sister brought me tickets for Christmas and I loved it! We went on the 27th of December and we had a blast! I feel fortunate to catch some of the original cast members. The whole cast was awesome! My only problem was this couple sitting next to me that did not enjoy the show. They were wet blankets and party poopers. Why see a great Broadway Show and not having fun? We saw Hairspray for the last time today and what a shame the show is closing. This was our 4th time and it was the best performance yet. We finally got to see Harvey as Edna and Marissa as Tracy and what a joy and great experience the show proved to be.
If you can catch the show before Jan 4th, go for it!
The show still maintains it's unique charm, charisma and just overall fun which the movie did not convey.

Just saw the show Tuesday night. It was Harvey Fierstein's first night in his return as Edna. What an exciting night! The audience erupted at Edna's first entrance. He is so PERFECT for that role! Also was great to see Clarke Thorell in his original role as Corny Collins. The whole cast was great. Especially moving was the song "I Know Where I've Been"; I couldn't help but "kvell" knowing the results of last week's presidential election.... read more.

| I recently took my 12 year old daughter, we sat in the 2nd row. This show was awesome, number 1 because of the spectacular seating and number 2 because of the spectacular show! The acting and singing were phenomenal and the main characters were amazing......I would definately recommend this show to all ages. |

We were on our first trip to NYC and we had to see this show on the orders of our 15 year old daughter. We went Sunday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed it. Big up to Maureen who works in the theatre and gave us a warm welcome, appreciated it, many thanks.

Hairspray is fun fluff for the the tourist. If you are into theater in ANY way at all, this is mindless spectacle. It is the action movie of musicals, minus the explosions.
That being said, as long as you're not looking for substance, it is a very upbeat score with great period dancing and a message to give to the audience. By the end, you'll be dancing in the aisles.

| I was very excited to see Hairspray this summer. But immediatly once the role of Tracy started to sing her opening song, I was turned off completely. It would not be hard to say that the movie is better than the show by far, because it is. The effects were nice, but the part of Mrs.Turnblad, WOW! Horrible performance. Everytime he would finish a song he would be huffing and puffing. There were so many flat notes in this show that it seemed ... read more like a bad tryout for American Idol. My advice, stick to the movie and don't waste your money on this one. |

i saw this show when i was 12 years old. i LOVED it. the music was so catchy, and the actors and actresses did an AMAZING job. the music is so catchy... you'll want to get up and dance! Not only is it a fun musical, it also has a good message. be who you are! no matter what size, shape, or color you are. i loved Hairspray and would totally recommend it!

| WOW!!! I was really pleased with the movie that came out in 2007 and really wanted to see Hairspray on Broadway. I was hoping that it would not disappoint me. It didn't at all! When i was able to go see it the cast was just AMAZING! Some of the scenes were portrayed better on stage then on film. I will definitly see this show again hands down. |

This is the best musical ever!!
I saw it with my family when we went to New York for a holiday in April and everyone loved it. If you loved the movie see the production because it is just so much better. George Wendt is brilliant as Edna Turnblad and he does not wear body suits and a disgusting amount of make up to create his character! Instead, he just becomes Edna on stage!
The music is great for everyone and I will guarentee that ... read more if you are normal you will come out singing at least one of the songs from the show if not all of them.
Everyone in the cast and crew must be commended on creating such a magnificent piece of theatre. This is one of the best musicals ever!
