Should go see. Review by: VAL, Apr 17, 2008 |
| Saw this show with a friend and sat in the first row! Patti LuPone is fantastic and takes the whole show. The dancing is simple and the sets are too, but all in all a good show and I have been to many. |

Perfect Patti! Review by: Dale, Apr 14, 2008 |
| My daughter and I saw Gypsy April 6. When the show began there was an anouncement that Patti was ill,BUT as the trouper she is would perform! She did such a fantastic job, it brought tears to my eyes. Patti was so personable and adorable! What a great show, flew by. Haven't seen such an uplifting show in a very long time! Run, run, run to see it! The beautiful score stays with you! |

LuPone's Everything's Coming Up Roses is Worth the Ticket Price Itself Review by: Penny, Apr 13, 2008 |
| Saw Gypsy April 12 matinee. Patti Lupone gives a virtuoso acting and singing performance. She looked right at the audience and gave us her heart. Boyd Gaines played his part excellently from beginning to end, as tho we really were eavesdropping on a couple in love but with differences. The only real and sad fault for the audience was either the orchestra, conductor or the sound system when the orchestra played by itself. For example, at the ... read more start of the play, the orchestra played several pieces from the show; after the first piece, the orchestra was much too loud and the tempo was too fast, so that the music did not compare to the elegance, joy and feeling of the original beautiful score we heard in 1959 into the 60's. Same thing at the end of the show. Thank goodness the orchestra did not interfere with LuPone's numbers when she sang to us. |

Everything's coming up roses for the revival of Gypsy! Review by: MamaRose, Apr 8, 2008 |
| I thought it was amazing! I think the whole cast was amazing. Laura Benanti as Louise made the character grow stronger over the period of the play as she grew up. Boyd made Herbie relatable and lovable. Patti made the whole show though. Patti as Rose blew me away, more than any of the other Rose's. Her vocals were spot on and so was her acting preformace. The whole cast was amazing, but Boyd, Laura, and of course Patti made the play shine! |

Absolutely Incredible Review by: bwaybelt, Apr 8, 2008 |
| This is a wonderfully moving production. Patti LuPone pulls you in for a ride and Laura Benanti breaks your heart. The orchestra is amazing, and the entire cast has a chemistry that works perfectly together on stage. I went in with very high expectations and they were exceeded! Can't wait to see it again! |

ummmm...close your mouth Patti Review by: , Apr 7, 2008 |
| Not very good. Patti just screams which made me dislike the show. It's not even belting, its ear shattering. The music was good, and so was Laura Benanti, who played Louise. Besides her, many actors were not quite professional. Although fine when you're there, it will not change your perspective or leave you a different person. So let Patti scream to an empty house, don't go |

Golden Opportunity Review by: Colleen, Apr 3, 2008 |
| Patti LuPone was mesmerizing as Rose. It is a special opportunity to see a performer at the TOP of her game.It is a MUST SEE production. The staging, lighting, Orchestra and the size of the theater make this an enchanting show. I think that the sign of a good show is that you are still thinking about the show days after the performance this is what I Feel about Gypsy. |

Lupone on Fire Review by: dylan, Mar 22, 2008 |
| This production of Gypsy is fantastic, even greater than it was at the City Center last summer! The sets are grander, the acting fine-tuned, the full orchestra thunderous. Everything has been beefed up and it adds up to an amazing experience. And, believe it or not, the biggest improvement is Lupone's performance. Though she was musically magnificent at the City Center, her acting seemed a bit sluggish, as if she hadn't ... read more completely inhabited the role of Rose. Not true anymore. She was ON FIRE last night (March 20) from beginning to end. I've seen her in Evita and Sweeney Todd, but this is absolutely her crowning achievement. She simply must be seen in this role. She tears that stage apart. The Tony will go her this year. I loved every minute of this show. Do not hesitate! |

Goosebumps and cheers! Review by: Owen, Mar 15, 2008 |
| So fortunate that GYSPY had commenced previews when I visited NY last week as GYPSY surpassed expectations. The joy of hearing that overture performed on a Broadway stage and a peformance from Patti LuPone as Rose that I hope will live on in my memory. If justice is to be done, the leading actors in this production will rightfully win TONY Awards for their performances and Arthur Laurents for Best Director as what he has given audiences is a ... read more GYPSY which thrilled from the opening bar. Until we get to see this production in London I really envy Broadway audiences of the opportunity of seeing this great musical be brought to life nightly by this great cast. |
