Lackluster and uneven performances coupled with generic dialogue ("what IS love?") make for a pretty unimpressive show. "Guilty" is advertised as a dark comedy but the show is neither funny nor dark. There are a handful of chuckles along the way, but I've laughed harder watching Oedipus Rex.
The show explores lots of issues like self-image, mental health, and addiction but fails to contribute anything worthwhile. The show is in ... read more dire need of a rewrite and a more rigorous rehearsal schedule (lines were flubbed all throughout the night).
A few bright spots: the woman playing Laura (pictured) is truly lovely and full of potential. The actress playing the teenager was also underutilized and a pleasure to watch. |
