Evangelical Christians SHOULD see this show Review by: Andy, Dec 7, 2012 |
I was deeply moved by this play with great acting and interesting use of the stage. But, most importantly, it puts on display the absurdity of some of the evangelical language we (yes, I am one) find 'common and normal'. The opening few minutes show how when this hope that is found within us is not coupled with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15), it comes across as shallow and deaf to real world problems. It demonstrates the follies ... read more of blanketing generalistic Christianity over all facets of life without the use of common sense or proper Biblical reading. Real Estate and Christianity CAN mix, but just by being a Christian Realtor doesn't guarantee success. Maybe if we didn't have a 'Christian Subculture' to flee to and hide behind, there would be more films casting Christianity in a positive light on and off Broadway. |

Great surprise! Review by: joanf, Nov 21, 2012 |
| I have to say I was totally surprised and please with this play. Surprised because the "reviews" (some on this site) were just wrong! What other people don't know, huh? The story was engaging, the actors wonderful (every performance) and it was a great 90 minutes... thoughtful, of the moment, truthful. And I ran into a neighbor who'd just seen it and he echoed the positive reaction. A great surprise. Thumbs up! |

Review by: henny, Nov 10, 2012 |
| Truly a disappointment. Our group was not one of religious zealots! The play's outcome was predictable as soon as we are introduced to the potential love triangle --of course the first scene had also offered a preview of the outcome. Ed Asner's role was not particularly key to the play's plot and certainly not a dramatic tour de force that shows his talents. Two of us almost fell asleep and we would certainly have left at an intermission. ... read more With the cost of Broadway tickets these days, there are certainly better entertainment opportunities for theatre goers. All of us noted that the theatre's seats were exceptionally uncomfortable. |

Highly recommended Review by: Craiggers46, Oct 27, 2012 |
| We went to "Grace" due to the cast, and we weren't disappointed. This is a well-acted, thought-provoking production. It kept our attention throughout, even though it's a four character play with minimal staging. We didn't find it to be anti-Christian. The main character presents himself as a devout Christian, and he is also deeply flawed and ultimately falls from grace. He is not meant to represent all Christians - but if you're not ... read more an open-minded individual you should perhaps skip this one and check out a Disney show. All of the characters are in different stages of their personal spiritual journeys. |

Loved It! Review by: , Oct 23, 2012 |
| This was a great play. It was so great to see Paul Rudd acting so up close, and I enjoyed seeing him in a more serious, darker role(even though there was humor). Opinions really are individual, because I couldn't believe reading the above reviews that some people were falling asleep! Maybe they just needed the upbeatness of a musical instead, perhaps, but I think this dark comedy was a treat and should be seen before it's gone! |

Some People Have No Sense of Humor Review by: Ron T., Oct 22, 2012 |
| I read some of the reviews posted here before seeing the show and was not very hopeful. But then we've all heard "there's no accounting for taste." My guess is the people who didn't like the show may have been religious zealots, who apparently don't have a sense of humor. And when I hear people had a hard time staying awake for 90 minutes, I'm not much interested in what they have to say anyway. The story is told in a very interesting manner ... read more and, if you read the reviews posted here, you know that show is not a "who done it", but a why "did he do it." I found the show to be an engrossing character study of people who've had a life changing experience and how they lived with it and how they interpreted it. |

Save your money and pick another play Review by: SouthernTraveler, Oct 18, 2012 |
| Our vacation group wanted to see a play with real stars in it so we picked this one. It was not worth the cost and I did not like the story or the acting. One of the six in our group fell asleep and I almost did. We decided there is no intermission because everyone might leave and not come back. Ed Asner and Paul Ruud's names sells tickets to this but it is not worth it. We also went to see an inexpensive Broadway musical on a second night ... read more and it was great. There are great plays to see -- this isn't one of them. |

Worst play ever Review by: Lkc, Oct 9, 2012 |
| This is the worst play I've ever seen. I wish I had read some reviews before wasting money for a ticket to see it. I was convinced to go because Asner and Rudd are stars and I wanted to see them in a play, but the story was so bad and the script so personally offensive to me, I wanted to leave after the first few minutes. I fought the urge and stayed for most of it, but eventually did leave early. Because they tell the end of the story ... read more within the first few minutes of the play, I had no reason to stay (everyone dies). The language was terrible....many F words makes it inappropriate for young people, and even though I'm an adult, I don't use profanity and don't want to pay money to hear it. They use the worst caricatures of Christianity and pull out all the stereotypes. If a play was written like this about Muslims or Jews it would never be on Broadway. Don't go! There are many more plays more worth the money. I thought about it afterward only long enough to think how I wanted to warn others not to spend money on a ticket to this show. |

Not a winner for me Review by: sandy, Oct 1, 2012 |
| Although I felt the acting was good and the stageing unique I found the story boring and truthfully I nodded off a number of times. There were a lot of long pieces of dialogue which at times were difficult to pay attention to.Sorry to say this one should be a pass in my book |

Mocks Christianity Review by: , Oct 1, 2012 |
| Great Acting, but the story basically mocks Christianity. It does show very well the depravity of man. The author should explore the absurdities of atheism and polytheism the other two alternatives. |

Challenges your thinking, loved the acting, amusing at times! Review by: lizzy, Sep 29, 2012 |
| Not only was the acting fantastic, but I was drawn into the play immediately. The perspectives presented by the actors, are views that can challenge our thinking process based on the cards we are dealt. At times, I enjoyed a few laughs. |

A treat Review by: Legs, Sep 19, 2012 |
| A unique play, interestingly staged, good story, well-acted. Ed Asner is just marvelous. Paul Rudd and Michael Shannon are perfect as the apparent opposites. Kate Arrington, though, seems a bit wooden and more of a caricature than a character. Billed as a dark comedy, Grace has a lot of humor but also a lot to think about. |

Very Good Review by: ashley, Sep 17, 2012 |
| The actors are excellent, and so talented - that you actually forget they are on stage, and just feel like you are getting a glimpse into the lives of a young couple. The play was heavy, dramatic, and humorous at times. We recommend it! |
