AMAZING BREATH-TAKING TEAR-JERKER! TONY! TONY! TONY! Review by: DITTO, Mar 31, 2012 |
This show is truly spectacular and well-executed. You can definitely tell alot of research and hard work went in to the stagecraft, lighting and choreography. Cassie and Richard who play Molly and Sam will undeniably snag Tony nominations for their outstanding performances. If you truly want to see special effects at its greatest and the use of incredible lightning, this show will gladly take you there. Each scene was breathtaking and ... read more the use of the digital boards was phenomenal. Of course we know the story. . but to see it perform live in front of you with the visuals is just stunning. The songs are EXCELLENT and flow well with the show. This is one "movie made to musical" show that HIT THE MARK. This is well worth your ticket. You will NOT be disappointed. P.S. BRING TISSUES! |

This spirit moved me somewhat. Review by: rskblueyes, Mar 29, 2012 |
I saw the first preview performance. Came into the show with very low expectation thinking this would be a typical movie to Bdway adaptation. Production wise this is a great show. The sets and staging are top notch. The special effects were amazing! This was money well spent as opposed to what I saw in Spiderman. The story basically follows the plot of the movie, with no suprises. Still an interesting premise.... read more. The score a bit generic , didnt care much for the rock numbers. There was one ballad sung by Cassie Levy which stood out. Performances were ok. I found the two leads ( Fleeshman and Levy) a bit bland, but both had real nice voices. The standout was Davine Joy Randolph, she was funny and gave a great performance, even outdoing Whoppi Goldberg in my opinion. All in all an enjoyable evening, definitely see if you can get a discounted ticket. May not last after critics review it and wont have a Ghost of a chance. |

Extremely Entertaining! Review by: Glaze, Mar 25, 2012 |
| I got these tickets as a gift, and honestly did not have high expectations for this show. However, I was presently surprised. The show was extremely entertaining. The blending of the stage scenery and props with videos was extremely well conceived and executed as well as the many "special ghost effects". The acting and the music was good, and the book was based on the movie so the story will be very familiar. In my opinion the stand out ... read more performance was the actress playing Oda Mae Brown (the Whoopie Goldberg part from the movie). She got the loudest and longest ovation from the audience. Go see it! |

Review by: Carol, Mar 22, 2012 |
Yes, Ghost ,the movie, was a charming bit of fluff, but reviving the slender plot in a full-scale Broadway production is the equivalent of killing a fly with a cannon. The question remains why was this done at all? The performances of the principal players: Sam Wheat (Richard Fleeshman), Molly Jensen (Caissie Levy), Oda Mae Brown (played by the understudy, Moya Angela), and Carl Bruner (Bryce Pinkham) were very good, especially Angela in the ... read more role Whoopi Goldberg originated in the film. Although Glenn Ballard is touted in the program as having worked with Alanis Morrissette and Michael Jackson and winning five Grammy awards along with his partner Dave Stewart of theEurythmics , their music and lyrics are simplistic at best when they can be heard above an overpowering orchestra. Similarly, Ashley Wallen, the show’s choreographer, juxtaposes a live chorus line against a dazzling light show background. However, the dances are largely pedestrian and irrelevant between scene changes. It is not surprising that five of the play's producers were associated with Spiderman Turn off the Dark which had fabulous aerials, sets, and costumes with a nonexistent plot in the original. This production of Ghost has incredible special effects, illusions, scenery, a moving sidewalk in the stage, outstanding projections, and creative use of lighting. All these do not offset the show' s flaws. Lacking a solid book with a substantial plot, Ghost is just a specter of what a Broadway show should be. Similar to Spiderman Turn off the Dark, Ghost will appeal to 9-year-olds who are unsophisticated enough to think that all the bells and whistles constitute a Broadway production.
