The "spectacular" stage sets were shockingly old bent and faded. Review by: Kelly, Jun 4, 2011 |
We purchased tickets one month ago. Looked forward to see the show, it sounded like fun. My friend came a long distance. To our dismay it was absolutely horrible!! One man in a dusty studio. Reproductions of Gauguin that look like they were taken out of a garbage dumpster. Its an insult to the viewer and disrespectful to say the reproductions are beautiful when they are old and bent. And they are only about 18x24 inches. Sitting on ... read more the floor leaning against the wall.. The guy did not even have easels. He wore an old worn out shirt not even a decent looking outfit or costume. One reproduction had been folded you could see the creases it was glued to a canvas that had a hole in it. The show was 40 minutes not 1 hour and thank God we got out of there fast!!! |

great score, for true appreciators of a good story, Review by: Orbitoff, Jul 7, 2008 |
For anyone who can appreciate a great score. This show takes broadway (or off-broadway), back to it's roots. Telling an interesting story, through song, without letting everything else like cast, sets and orchestrations take over. Very minimal. I really enjoyed learning more about Gauguin, his life was complicated, as was he. But this show finds a way of telling the story through minimalism. Wait, i said that already. i should take a ... read more lesson from Gauguin/Savage light and minimalise myself too:) |

The worst show I ever saw... Review by: elizavetab, May 12, 2008 |
| There are no words to describe how horrible and laughable this show is. It takes place in a little room, where you feel like a hostage because you can't leave (there were 10 people in the audience). One-crazy-man show; he can't act, sing, or play the piano. If you value your time and money at least a little bit, do not waste any of it on this nightmare. |
