Don't know why this show gets so much buzz... Review by: OliP, Sep 13, 2011 |
I don't know if it's because I did so much research of the show before, but I really didn't enjoy this show as much as I wanted to. There were some good moments/acts but overall I really don't think it was worth the money, even when discounted.

| dO NOT go! Don't waste your time. Music was the best thing about it. Watching uncoreographed "dancers" roll around in a swimming pool/trampoline is not how I want to spend my evening. If you like cheesy audience participation and lack originality and creativity of your own- go ahead. |

"Fuerzabruta" Review by: Tom Bestor, Feb 16, 2010 |
Like their previous show "De La Guarda," the creators of "Fuerzabruta" are working in a theatrical language that seems to me how an alien culture might attempt to communicate with us when there is no common language or culture or history. There's no story here, only the barest of thematic threads -- human struggle against (or perhaps dances with) forces that are far more powerful than they. I love an intricate story more than most,... read more, but I still enjoyed every one of the 70 or so minutes of this show, because I love the kind of interactive, somewhat obtuse (but sensorily-rich) theatrical techniques director Diqui James has developed -- from the giant treadmill to the enormous acrylic pool suspended above the audience where the cast frolic as though on an outsized slip 'n slide made of really durable Saran Wrap. As I write, I recognize that this is exactly where that lack of a common language presents a hurdle. I can't adequately explain what's going on -- nor could I. Because the show isn't about explanations, it's about experiences. And you just have to experience "Fuerzabruta." Because it is undeniably an experience. Just remember that you'll be experiencing that magic on your feet: there are no seats in the performance space. |

They cut some of the scenes! Review by: Min, Feb 8, 2010 |
| The first time I saw this, I thought it was really good and I would recommend this for someone who loves art form and dance. The second time I saw this I was really disappointed because they cut a few scenes from the show. A good 20 mins was gone. I wish they wouldn't do that. It's a shame for people who pay full price and got cheated. Also for people who hates standing or have a bad neck please don't go to this show. You will be looking up ... read more most of the time and standing the whole time. |

Modern Dance Review by: JoAnn B., Nov 15, 2009 |
| Strange but imaginative modern dance experience. Saw the show with my family, including my 11 year old autistic son, and another family and it was perfect for our collective needs. My older son could not take the heavy fog machine use (as was the case for other audience members as seen in the lobby). Use of strobe lights could also be too much for some people. Saw the show Saturday night at 7, and we were packed in like rats and had to move ... read more as the sets changed (yes you stand through the entire show). Room temp was way too high. |

Like Cirque de Soleil!! Review by: Dee, Aug 6, 2009 |
| What a colorful, crazy, high-energy experience! The only down-side is that I went alone and you really shouldn't do that for this show, since it's pretty interactive and you'll feel like you went clubbing by yourself. I don't recommend it for kids, because even though it's cool to watch, the lights and loudness might scare them a bit. A few of the performers were very pushy when they came dancing through the crowd, so just be aware of that. Wear ... read more casual clothes because you'll get misted and end up with cardboard like material in your hair. There's lots in this show for the senses. Just bring a friend!! |
