A musical well deserving of many awards!! Review by: , Feb 3, 2013 |
| It was a joy to see this wonderfully sung and staged production of a great musical from Broadway's "Golden Age," the 1950's and 60's. This show won a number of Tony awards and the Pulitzer Prize. I was lucky enough to have seen the original, with the always delightful Tom Bosley. This musical has a terrific score and one that I hadn't played in many, many years. In fact, the score was so "ingrained" in my memory that I found myself ... read more mouthing many of the words and moving to the rhythms. There was so much talent in the performances, with some especially moving and beautiful songs as well as the more clever and amusing ones. I learned a bit of history without any pain! It is also always a great pleasure to see and hear the well-known and well-conducted Encores Orchestra. I have seen quite a number of these generally splendid Encores productions and tend to leave with a sense of nostalgia and a happy heart. |
