Name's Ash, Housewares. Review by: horror_flick_chick, Sep 2, 2007 |
My Boyfriend and I took in the show with some friends as part of my birthday celebration in Toronto. We are all huge fans of the Films and so we went in excited but a little aprehensive hoping the musical would hold true to the movie(s). We were far from disappointed, rather we were blown away. The show was phenomenal! True fans of the movie will definatly latch on to the laugh a minute script. Campy broadway how could you not love it? Ryan Ward ... read more takes on a huge task in the Role of Ash afterall, Bruce Campbell's shoes are some very big shoes to fill! Ward rises to the occassion making the character of Ash his own! It was soooo good we want to see it again, but next time we are sitting in the splatter zone!!!!!!! I definatly recommend this show to everyone with a sense of humor or a passion for B-horror films! Cheers to all! |

Taking the Teenagers Review by: DebG, Feb 7, 2007 |
| I took my two older teenagers 15 and 18. We laughed so hard. Days later we are still talking about it...and laughing. So unexpectively great...the best show I've ever seen. This is what theater is suppose to be, entertaining, creative and so so funny. If you have teenagers (and you want want to do something together that you will all enjoy) take them to this show, and it will be a great time for all! A big thank you to the performers and ... read more all the people who make this show possible, you have given me and my kids a great life moment/memory! |

| just a fun time .... great off-broadway show ..... helps to be a bruce campbell, evil dead-head from the 80's ..... but good regardless. the cast gives it their all ..... and the music and energy shines, or spurts. some rediculoulsy zany moments result. |

Save your money! Review by: Vegas, Jan 4, 2007 |
| Horrible show!! Absolutely the worst stage production I have ever seen anywhere. I anticipated some campy humor with at least a smidgen of wit. Instead, we were expected to laugh at fake blood being squirted onto the audience. Even this was not done creatively. |

Fun Review by: , Dec 1, 2006 |
Not really into the the "horror" genre (did like Dawn of the Dead) and thought it would be interesting, and it was.
I really enjoyed it, over the top campy, does not pruport to be more, with a very talented cast. I laughed a lot (more than I did at Borat!) with many "oh's" from the audience during certain scenes.
Like another reviewer said,if you are in town for a short time & want the Broadway experience, skip this, but ... read more if you want to have some fun, go see it.
I have to say I was a bit disappointed at the ending, but otherwise, pleasantly surprised. |

WHAT AN AMAZINGLY CAMPY NIGHT OUT...YOU MUST SEE EVIL DEAD Review by: LOOK WHO'S EVIL NOW, Nov 26, 2006 |
WOW!!!!!!WOW!!!!!!AND MORE WOWS!!!!! WHAT A HELL OF A NIGHT OUT AT THE THEATER. I AM A FAN OF THE ORIGINAL EVIL DEAD MOVIE BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A FAN TO HAVE AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING NITE. THIS SHOW PACKED A HELL OF A PUNCH AND WAS GREAT FROM THE OPENING NUMBER THROUGH THE FINALE. FIRST, THE SET DESIGN WAS GENIUS-THE ENTIRE SET COMES TO LIFE AND IS QUITE ENTERTAINING. THE ENTIRE CAST WAS TERRIFFIC; I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH AMAZING BAD ACTING ... read more IN MY LIFE!!!!!THE MUSICAL NUMBERS ROCKED-THE DANCES WERE GREAT AND THE DEMONS WERE HILARIOUS!!!!!
THOSE POOR PEOPLE WHO SAT IN THE FIRST THREE ROWS LEFT THE THEATER (LITERALLY) COVERED IN BLOOD. I WENT WITH TWO FRIENDS WHO HAD NO IDEA WHERE THEY WERE GOING AND THEY HAD AN AMAZING TIME. THE 11:00 SHOW REALLY GOT EVERYONE HYPED FOR THE MOOD OF THE SHOW. THE GORE AND BLOOD SHED OF THE SECOND HALF WAS SHOCKINGLY FUNNY AND BRILLANTLY EXECUTED-THIS SHOW IS NOT FOR KIDS-ONLY THE CHILD AT HEART.
EVIL DEAD TAKES THE TERM "TONGUE AND CHEEK" TO BRAND NEW HEIGHTS!!! THIS IS A TOTAL MUST SEE-SEE IT WHILE THE ENERGY IS ELECTRIFYING. THIS SHOW WILL BE AROUND FOR YEARS TO COME-I HOPE. |

B movie = D play Review by: , Nov 13, 2006 |
| I saw it in review on Oct 6. Left during intermission about 2/3rd's of the way through. A campy movie means B acting, script and line. You can't take a bad movie and make it into a good play. I found it boring after the fiRst ten minutes. Not worth the money or my time. Actualy the crowd was more interesting than the show. I am atonished that people here liked it. I've seen better high school plays. |

Campy, fun show Review by: flyerfan22, Nov 12, 2006 |
| I'll start off by saying that I am not an Evil Dead fanatic. In fact, I usually don't like campy movies. This show is the next Rocky Horror cult classic. It is not a typical Broadway production, but it is a fun night out. If you like campy shows, go see it. |

Evil Dead Rocks. Review by: nycstories, Nov 2, 2006 |
| Run, don't walk, don't stop to kill any Candarian demons unless they are trying to prevent you from buying a ticket to "Evil Dead, The Musical." This hysterical and reverent new show is now running. If you have ever seen the Evil Dead movies, or are a Sam Rami or Bruce Campbell fan, or like horror stories, or even if you have a sense of humor, you will love Evil Dead, The Musical. |

i give it a Review by: Semiformal, Oct 29, 2006 |
good, fun, slightly intelligent, and extremely entertaining.
If you’ve seen the movie, go see the play. If you haven’t seen the movies then I think you should go rent then first (the first and the second) and then go see the play. Or if you’re getting dragged along for the ride then you’ll still get a few laughs out of it.
I mean don’t get me wrong, it’s a funny show. It’s just many of the intelligent jokes where jokes ... read more commenting on the bad continuity of the films or nonsensical plot line or specific lines from the movies we were all waiting to hear.
The low part of the show was about 30 minutes into the first act when the story and music started to get repetitive. Although it worked for the film it seemed tedious for the stage. But no worries the sluggish part was over quick and we were back to the big laughs.
To sum up- If you are in the city for a night or two and you’re looking for an emotional family experience to take home with you then I’d suggest a different show. On the other hand if you are just looking for a fun, gory and entertaining night full of laughs (and especially if you’ve seen the movies) then I’d make a note of trying to go see it.
