An Earnest sucess for Ernest in Love Review by: Diract 66, Jan 3, 2010 |
| This was a very enjoyable little show with a very enjoyable big performance from Beth Fowler as Lady Bracknell. Her song is the wittiest of the score, " A Handbag is not a Proper Mother". The music and lyrics are very simple, with some clever rhymes. The show is,after all, written in the 1960's. Most of Oscar Wilde's famous quoted lines are intact in the show, and they are the laughs that the show gets from its audience. It is amazing what ... read more this Theatre Group can do in its limited acting area. The set is servicable and simple and the floor does look crowded when everyone is on the stage. A tip for you, if you have never been to this theatre , do not buy the side seats. The actors play to the front audience and the play is directed for this part of the theater. The Irish Rep. always puts on a good production. For a pleasant evening of theatre, see Ernest In Love. |
