Strong and gripping drama Review by: stagestrucknyc.com, Mar 14, 2007 |
Strong drama about civil war, violence and bloodshed in Ulster in the late 1980s. The mystery/thriller side of the plot is a search for the informer in the midst of a rural militia band. The play focuses on a dysfunctional family, but it also symbolically represents the state of the Northern Irish society in this unhappy period. The drone of surveillance helicopters creates a dark and claustrophobic mood. Every single actor is excellent,... read more, and the direction is very solid. I love the Irish Repertory Company -- bless them for bringing us drama straight up, not stage effects but real theatrical inspiration. |
