OK Show Review by: Jim-NJ, Sep 10, 2011 |
| This is an entertaining compilation of Danny Kaye performances (through Brian Childers) which Sylvia Fine mostly wrote or directed (originally). Solid performances. The main limitation is that this is a very small, inelegant theater for such a show. |

Danny was wonderful. Great show!! Review by: , Sep 19, 2010 |
"Danny" was exhausting. His energy was fabulous. Learned a lot about Danny Kaye that I did not know. IT was a wonderful show. The main character should go far in theater. HOpe to see him uptown on Broadway soon. P.S. The guy selling tickets ceratinly does NOT encouage business. He could NOT have been more sharky. All the others we came upon were wonderful! Just a thought! Looking forward to many more visits to St. Luke's. |

| We recently saw this show at a Sunday matinee. House was packed, with many older people in attendance. My son, age 23, really enjoyed the show and performance by Brian Childers. All he knew about Danny Kaye was from hearing him performing "Hans Christian Anderson" on an old LP. The actors did an amazing job of keeping a high-energy pace going. Non-stop singing, dancing, leaping about the stage for 50 minutes. very impressive and enjoyable. |

Kaye channeled to Childers successfully..a hand, a gesture, a wink! Review by: Diract66, Aug 13, 2009 |
| Just saw this show to a packed house matinee. The audience was made up of gray haired people who knew Danny Kaye's career and performances. For those that do not know his career this might be a difficult show to watch because he is a stranger to them. I thought the performance by Brian Childers was excellent. He captured the moves, gestures, and attitude of Kaye. His performance of the songs of Kaye was, of course, the highlight of the show.... read more. What can be better than hearing 'Tchaikovsky' twice. It only takes a minute! Although the story only skimps the lives of Kaye, you do get a feeling of their relationship. Kimberly Faye Greenberg also does a Fine job with her role getting us to feel er part in Kaye's life and success. I enjoyed the musical performances and recommend this play. I did think the play ended a little abruptly. Something more must have been cut. It was just over! |

Very Little "There" There Review by: DoctorJoeE, Jul 14, 2009 |
Some of the professional reviews say this show is more about Sylvia than Danny -- but truth be told, it's not really about either of them. We don't learn anything even casual fans like me didn't already know -- and by the time I was old enough to pay attention, Danny Kaye was already at his career's twilight. Kaye enthusiasts — those old enough to remember him — made up most of the half-empty audience at the matinee we attended, and ... read more they enjoyed hearing all his trademark songs one more time. However, anyone expecting Brian Childers to really embody Kaye, or for this show to fully explore biographical details, like his womanizing, or the alleged decade-long affair with Lawrence Olivier, will be disappointed. Childers does bear some resemblance to his subject, but his characterization is too superficial for him to really disappear into the character. Actually, Kimberly Faye Greenberg's Sylvia Fine is more convincing, which may be why other critics decided the show was more about her. Childers and Greenberg have good stage chemistry and both belt out the songs with gusto. But unless you're a diehard fan, my advice is to choose another show. |
