A look at today's 40 something couples Review by: brooklynlady, May 15, 2011 |
| Saw this play on Saturday afternoon. It compares two couples in two acts played by the same actors. The focus is on the women and motherhood. First act has a 41 year old women explaining her overwhelming desire to become a mother to her live in boyfriend. He thinks she did not want children and they are good the way things are going. The cradle has rocked their world just like the desire for the cradle has rocked the world of the first couple. They however are in it for the long haul. I guess this play is a commentary on the ability of today's women and men to make parenthood a choice and how they put it off until the women are down to the wire. It does not come to a conclusion but the audience engaged in an after play discussion with the assistant director and I think everyone was more interested in the couple that had taken the leap of faith. I think it also is saying that the man a woman choses to live with had better really, really love and adore her. I enjoyed the play and I am sure it started a lot of discussion for those who saw the play. |
