Sophisticated entertainment Review by: stagestrucknyc.com, Nov 4, 2006 |
| I liked this Company much more than I expected to. I was not a fan of the Sweeney Todd by same director, but in this case I was charmed. Raul Esparza is outstanding in the role of Robert. The music is wonderful, and I could hear and understand nearly every word of the witty lyrics. |

Wonderful Music Review by: Howaluna, Oct 31, 2006 |
| My Partner and I went to see Company last night. I was not expecting much, since I did not like the direction of Sweeney Todd. But I was really surprised. The musical instruments really worked with this show. The music was excellent. The cast exceptional. The set, very simple and elegant. I think this will be a really big success. |

First preview night - I thought this show was very entertaining. The actors also play instruments (a la Sweeney Todd), and the music is wonderful, a very accessible Sondheim. I am a big Raul Esparza fan and he did not disappoint. Very interesting set,the show is both moving and funny, and the score, well, what can you say about a show that has "Being Alive" and "The Ladies Who Lunch". "Marry Me A Little" & "Company"?
Just a few slow ... read more spots, but all in all, what good theatre should be. |
