| With a cast like this, it is not surprising to have high expectations for Clive. But outside of some solid performances, it is difficult to find a reason to recommend this show. An early Brecht play has been updated to the 1990's in the style of the experimental theater of the 1960's. Is this a performance method anyone can really admit to ever liking? Well it's even tougher to enjoy in the 2010's. Ethan Hawke is excellent in the title role.... read more. Vincent D'Onofrio, as usual, utterly commands the scenes in which he appears. Zoe Kazan shines as she gives her customary 135%. But the age old theme of admired artist consumed and done in by his own excesses would have required a more compelling approach to qualify the experience as time well spent. |
