Disgrace to the musical Review by: chicago lover, Apr 26, 2011 |
| Roxie needs to be played by someone who can do more than model. That's all. It brought down the whole musical. |

Chicago The Musical - What a disappointment! Review by: NYC Visitor, Apr 25, 2011 |
No wonder it's called Chicago the Musical... and not just CHICAGO. It's some of the CHICAGO songs in concert... by mediocre singers along with lots of disappointing dance numbers. It's no surprise that Christie Brinkley didn't do many of the Roxie numbers without a lot of help from the cast. Her voice is thin and not suitable for Broadway musicals. Save your money for something... anything else!

Loved CHristie!!!! Review by: markymark, Apr 23, 2011 |
| Loved Christie Brinkley in the show SAW IT TWICE WITH HER! She is a breath of fresh air and has lifted the shows attention and spunk! She signs autographs after ever show and poses and is kind to fans,.. Roxie as a character,... was not a singer or a dancer, just a girl who killed someone and wanted publicity. I love how Christie plays it breathy and then takes the role home and makes it fun and exciting,.. Alot of love is on stage between cast ... read more members,.. Christie rounds out a cast that seems a little tired and dusty,.. Velma,.. is amazing! |

Should go Back to Chicago Review by: Krissy, Apr 17, 2011 |
| I recently saw and fell in love with the movie "Chicago". Although the musical was an utter disappointment, the cast was filled with over the hill actors, the production was a farce, for the most part of acting was unbearable. Amra-Faye Wright (Velma) had a gorgeous voice and was a brillant actress, but her dancing left something to be desired possibly because of her age. It is safe to say Christie Brinkley (Roxie) is NOT meant to be in ... read more broadway her singing was breathy and inaudible to hear through the rest of the cast (probably purposely). The only shining star was Brent Barrett (lawyer-Billy Flynn) his musical numbers were enjoyable and his acting was comical and entertaining. The dancers were the also an amusing part of the musical. All in all this show is as old as me (15 years old), It's about that time. |

Christie Brinkley is an abomination in this show! Review by: disgruntled, Apr 17, 2011 |
Left at intermission. She can't sing, dance or act and is an embarassment. Pity the cast and orchestra who have to sit through this. Looked like the dancers had to dumb down their moves to make her not look so bad. DO NOT waste your money, go to Wonderland, Billy Elliot, Avenue Q or Blue Man Group or Newsical but NOT this travesty.

New York New Yorrrrkkkk, but not Chicago Review by: Musicloverjunior, Apr 14, 2011 |
| I agree with the critic who yelled rubbish. During a recent 6 day trip to NY with my wife, we decided to take in a show and decided on Chicago. Apart from the state of the theatre itself(I hope it wasnt typical of all Broadway theatres)the show itself was the biggest letdown of our stay. Its basically a band playing jazz tunes with interjections from the cast as and when a song is required to support an awful storyline. When theyre not ... read more required the cast member sits on a seat to the side of the stage awaiting his or her turn. No set changes, no costume changes. I'm at an absolute loss as to why people rave about this show. Have they not seen far superior productions such as Mama Mia, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and We Will Rock You to name but a few? Oh woe, I just wish we had plumped for the Jersey Boys |

Disappointed Review by: S, Apr 13, 2011 |
I loved the movie and was excited for this show, but it was underwhelming. Velma and Billy Flynn were good, but Christie Brinkley was awful as Roxie. I'm sure she's a fabulous supermodel, but her acting and singing--I know fourteen-year-olds that would have done better. Her acting was overblown to the point of being comical. Her voice was under pitch and breathy. To top it all off, after the bows the cast all came back onstage ... read more in a tasteless plug to remind the audience that she had been on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Maybe that was supposed to make us forget her ineptitude. Personally, I'd much rather see a talented unknown then a flat celebrity. The dancing and the pit orchestra were excellent, but it didn't redeem the female lead. |

metz-a-metz Review by: , Apr 9, 2011 |
| I don't know why this show is getting such bad reviews....its a great show! I am have seen this show twice and liked it both times. true, the costumes are a bit suggestive and distasteful, but the dancing is excellent and the music is classic. speaking of the music, another thing i didnt like about it was that the orchestra takes up 90% of the stage! now, I love when the orchestra is on stage, but i think goes WAY over the top. now,... read more, i would definitely not bring a young child to this show. I would say ages 13 and up. i think also it depends on the cast that you see. the first time i saw this, i saw Ashlee Simpson as Roxy and Deidre goodwin as velma, and they were both FABULOUS! but the second time i saw it, the two leads were very forgettable, so much that i cant remember their names off the top of my head. but overall, i would say, see this show once. its a classic, and i think you will enjoy it. :) |

Review by: DFF, Oct 18, 2010 |
| Are you ready for some loud fighting and shooting? If you are than come see the broadway musical Chicago. The excelent music was a favorite part of millions. The costumes however if you bring little kids the costumes are not that great however it seems kinda risky at some parts. Except the 2 main characters don't have really risky costumes it's just the company. The music was a main sight, "Razzle Dazzle" made me fit in. The story could be a ... read more little confusing as a first time person seeing it you think you don't get it but after a weeks view you might get it in some parts. I reccomened seeing the movie after the play or musical. |

Liked it so much I saw it twice! Review by: DG, Jun 1, 2010 |
| I saw the show May 28 and again May 30. I loved it! The entire cast was excellent! I thought Ruthie Henshall and Terra MacLeod worked great together - exactly as expected for their particular roles. And both immensely talented. I don't think you get any better than Ruthie! I was concerned about Matthew Settle at first, but then realized that the cool, confident, aloof way he played the role worked very well. The stark set is a ... read more little strange, but it does allow you to concentrate on the talent. Chicago is a classic that should be seen, and this is a great cast to see! |

Not a great duo Review by: Melissa, May 22, 2010 |
| I saw the show on Thursday, May 20th. Front and center. I love Chicago and have seen it more than I can count. Terra MacLeod is excellent as Velma Kelly. Her voice is strong and sultry. Her dancing is athletic, yet feminine and smooth. She comes very close to Bebe in the role. They have Ruthie Henshall cast right now as Roxie Hart. I know Ruthie is a tremendous talent and such an excellent performer. I just couldn't wrap my head and ... read more heart around these 2 together on stage as Velma and Roxy. They do not play off each other, they are not a sexy pair together, they barely pull it off looking like "dueling" ladies. They are more like Girl Scout mother's fighting for front page headlines on the amount of cookies sold....not murderess vixens desperate for publicity. Their Hot Honey Rag at the end was forced and did little to impress the audience. I have been to Chicago where that closing number brings the audience to their feet!! To see Velma and Roxy perform together...WOW! Not these two..more like DUD. My advice - go see Chicago when the pair is stronger, for now spend your money elsewhere. The cast of dancers are terrific - and perfectly deliver every Bob Fosse gyrating, sexy, slinky choreography you want in the musical. |
