NOT ONE PROP OR CHANGE OF COSTUME FOR THE VERY HIGH PRICE Review by: Reviewer, Jul 7, 2011 |
The movie was better then the play, I paid 87.00 dollars, not to see (1) change of costume, not one prop, this was very poor. The sound was very low, and the wigs they used were very cheap looking. Big rip off......

WHAT WERE THOSE PEOPLE THINKING, CASTING CHRISTIE BRINKLEY!!!?!!?! Review by: MJ , Jun 14, 2011 |
If you need only one review to convince you not to go, let this be it. Why settle for a lackluster performance and be ok with the fact that Roxie isnt supposed to be a great singer? It's Broadway, standards should be way higher, and this musical fail so badly. The story was fine, but it was a plain lazy clean muscial with no surprises(exp for Miss Sunshine there!), no costume changes, no scene changes. BORING. BUT,... read more, Velma was amazing, the lawyer, Amos, and Miss SUNSHINE(BEST PERFORMANCE thru the night, perhaps the only part that really impressed. a man voice with an amazing soprano pitch, he should replace Brinkley to be Roxie haha) Brinkley was plain rotten, no fact could muster that bad acting, bad speaking voice and horrible singing. Someone please make sure she never does Broadway shows again, maybe just go be a grandmother. No one should pay that much money to get mediocre - ITS BROADWAY FOR GOODNESS. My friend was here for 2days and i was hoping she would get the whole NY experience. How i regret the choice. This will only leave a bad taste in your mouth. |

Christie Brinkley headed to London and amazing reviews here! Review by: LOVES IT, Jun 8, 2011 |
Ummmm, just an FYI Christie raised sales at Chicago 120% in the three months she has been there and furthermore the Roxie role is not "all about singing and dancing" the Velma role is,.. The original story of Roxie is that Roxie is NOT a singer or dancer,.... so try and get the facts straight. I saw christie in the role the first week and then again this week. She is a delight, she lights the stage and spends 2 hours every night siging ... read more autographs for fans waiting outside everyyyyyy performance,.. That being said,... Just and FYI for you, she has been asked to do the show in London in July so you opinion of London allows us to know that she must be at her game if she is headed to your opinion of the "real" Chicago,.. lol She was and is amazing in the show,... |

Not worth it. Review by: coach, Jun 7, 2011 |
Not only is Christie Brinkley a major disappointment in this show -- but the Ambassador Theatre is a major letdown. Threadbare seats, peeling paint, worn and fraying armrests. So sad. Not the "broadway experience" at all. My money was wasted for this musical. Kudos to the chorus members! |

| Chicago with Christie Brinkley was really bad she cant sing or dance, and the part of Roxy is all about singing and dancing. do not waste your money. If in London go and see it there it is far superior. or wait until she leaves. |

Don't waste your money. Christie Brinkley was HORRIBLE! Review by: theatre goer, Jun 1, 2011 |
| I saw this show last week and Christie Brinkley was HORRIBLE. Putting this no-talented former model in the role of Roxie Hart was a disgrace. DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY ON THIS. I painfully stayed until the bitter end of the musical hoping for something good to say, but there was not anything good to say about this. I hope the producers of Chicago think long and hard before they choose a no-talent has-been like Christie Brinkley. ... read more Christie is only in the production for her own narcissistic needs and the need to still feel "relevant". |

Review by: bwaylover, May 27, 2011 |
| Recently saw Chicago in NYC with Christie Brinkley. Thankfully I bought the standing seats and only spent $26.50. I've seen many bway shows and this is by far the worse, she was horrible. Roxie Hart is known for having passion and a strong voice the complete opposite of Christie. Thankfully everyone else in the show was pretty good. Do yourself a favor skip Christie as Roxie, she gets off Broadway June 19, go the 20th. |

Brinkley OK Review by: Jim-NJ, May 15, 2011 |
Everybody should calm down about Christie Brinkley. First, the movie was very expertly done with a high budget so comparing a live performance is difficult. Christie Brinkley is in the show as a drawing card because of her celebrity. Her singing is passable with others filling in high notes where she cannot go. Her dancing is adequate but obviously the dancing requirement was reduced for her. Her acting is actually fine. Is she a solid ... read more broadway performer? Obviously not, but that's understandable. Also at 57 she could pass (on stage at least) for 30. The other key performers were all excellent. |

Give yourself a chance and appreciate this great show Review by: telefan, May 14, 2011 |
I have seen this musical various times. First time was in Vegas, Chita Rivera, Marcia Davis and Ben Vereen played the lead roles. I think it was fantastic as the actors were up to their parts as they understand well what the Fosse style is and what the show is about. This show is meant to be simplistic. Therefore,no costume changes,no elaborate scenery. That forces audience to focus on the acting, the singing, the dancing take place by ... read more it's elegance. The movie version should not be compared to the musical production. The movie was meant as an explanatory description prior to the musical numbers and it doesn't really blends in with the stage production. This can lead to unrealistic expectations about what you are going to see. Paige Davis was the headliner my second time around. She had good comedic timing and her dancing was fabulous. Velma Braxton and Roz Morton were awesome.Great singing and acting on their part without outrunning Ms.Davis. Last time I saw this show Bebe Neuwirth was back. This time she was playing Roxie. She did great, but it is my feeling that most actresses who play Roxie are requested to mimic late Gwen Verdon up to a point.Bebe Neuwirth is the real Velma Kelly, as Chita Rivera did back in the late 70's. I can't judge Christie Brinkley as I haven't seen her perform. However, based on the available clips, I can tell her singing may not be much, neither the way Roxie Hart was conceived and neither the way Gwen Verdon played her. As long as her acting and dancing are adequate, she can proudly add her Broadway debut to her resume.Even she is aware of her risky casting. |

Review by: Annie, May 11, 2011 |
| I was so excited to see "Chicago" on Broadway on my first trip to NYC. We sat in the third show, and found much of the dancing and singing entertaining. There were also some moments that were quite funny. However, I found the show to be more sexually risque than I would have imagined (yes, I understand the plot...LOL) My main concern was the use of the term "G.D." I just read some other reviews and agree that the female leads are quite a bit ... read more older than I would have imagined. |

Not a Broadway Snob - I saw a great Show Review by: Bonacker, May 9, 2011 |
| I saw the show the day before Mothers Day and I loved the energy and the talented actors and musicians. Seeing the band positioned on stage was fun and played in with the story really well. The dancing was crisp, sharp and well choreographed. The cast was talented and beautiful in that Chicago sort of way. This version was innovative yet true to the story. I found all of the actors to be very talented vocally, physically and theatrically. ... read more Dancing and singing numbers were delivered without a hitch! Velma was perfect and a edgy in a good way. Roxie was beautiful and also able to deliver the many facets of her character. Amos was funny and "stole" the show. The lawyer was cast perfectly and he has a seriously great voice. I am so glad I saw this show. Remember its not who counts, the credit goes to those on stage and backstage who put this show together. I'd see it several more times if I had the time. |

Do not waste your money on this!! Review by: Tourist, May 8, 2011 |
This is the most terrible production of Chicago I could have imagined. I have no idea why a 57 year old supermodel with no acting or singing talent was cast as Roxie Hart, but Christie Brinkley's performance was painful to watch. SHE ACTUALLY FORGOT HER LINES AT ONE POINT! She brought down the whole production and I pity the rest of the cast members (all of whom were excellent)for having to work with her. I was really looking forward to my first ... read more Broadway show and very sorry I chose this one.

See it with the understudy or don't see it Review by: Katers, May 5, 2011 |
| If you can see Chicago with the understudy instead of Christie Brinkley, you will enjoy it. We were so bummed when we saw that CB was the new lead. We had no desire to see CB in anything. We prayed that her understudy would be in the show the night we were seeing it and we got lucky and she was! Dylis Croman did a heartfelt job and was much more age-appropriate than a 57y/o woman saying she's pregnant. I never saw the movie and wasn't interested ... read more in seeing the Broadway musical, but I didn't hate it. It's just not a show I would recommend or see again. |

The Brinkley Trainwreck Review by: Mark, May 2, 2011 |
We saw this two nights ago. Christie Brinkley cannot sing, she cannot dance and she cannot act. There were parts of the play where you could actually see on her face that she was waiting for an actor to finish their line, so that she could deliver hers. Any of the actors in the chorus could have played the role and done a far better job. In the last number, she was so outdone by the other cast members in the song and dance routine that ... read more it was embarrassing. A total train wreck.
