What a Fantastic Surprise!

Wow! I had seats all the way over BUT it didn't matter. This show was refreshingly fantastic! I only knew of the movie and having had my fill of it, I was too thrilled about going to see this show but I was TOTALLY wrong. There is so much energy in this show that it just rolls off the stage and envelops you. Great staging!!

So So--not a first choice!

Having been to several Broadway shows, this was my only disappointment so far. I usually consider the production value, music (if applicable), and acting. The production is truly the minimum, acting was good, and the music was OK but definitely not memorable. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

I first found out about this show when the movie came out in 2002. I saw the movie and loved it. I didn't think it could be any better than that. Then, I saw the Broadway show, which made the movie look mediocre! This is some of the most fun I've ever had at a Broadway show! Go see it.

This is a classic show and will be amazing no matter where you see it in the world - more importantly, the best of the best in Broadway!! Loved it!! Definately more suited to the adult audience or those who have a broader mind and can think outside the box - it's not your 'traditional' lateral thinking musical. Go see it. It's a music see and the whole cast including band was amazing!! the audience feels soo involved all along and you dont ... read more feel like you're just 'watching'... you're part of Chicago! Congrats guys!!

My daughter and I went to NY for her senior trip and was lucky enough to see Chicago. We absolutely loved it! The dancing, singing, acting was excellent. Roxy has the best comedic timing since Lucille Ball! I could watch this over and over again. It was definitely what I had hoped a Broadway show would be! We sat in the front Mezzanine row A and I don't think there could have been any better seats in the entire place! I recommend it for ... read more anyone ages 16 and up (due to content) who loves drama/comedy/choreography/music!

A Broadway classic

This show is a Broadway classic. The dancing and music are amazing, and the minimalist set enable you to focus mostly on the actor's movements and the orchestra's music. The actors are sexy, talented, athletic, and energetic. The music is infectious. I like this show more and more every time i see it.

Underwhelming
Review by: DoctorJoeE, Mar 3, 2008

First of all, let me say that reviewers who include ad hominems in their reviews ("...if you disagree with me, you're a !@#$%^) should be ashamed of themselves. End of rant. I just saw Chicago a second time because I was underwhelmed the first time, and with so much positive feedback from others (including my wife), I thought maybe it was me. It was not. I was even more underwhelmed the second time. The set is fine,... read more, the music and choreography are fine (and for $100+ a throw they had better be), but what's the point? If you enjoy seeing villainy glorified and honesty mocked, or if you're a tourist and everything else is booked tonight, this might be the show for you. You can have it.

Great show, but not my type of musical.

I have to be honest, for me I don“t like it that much, and I know that is because this kind of musicals are not my fevorites. But it really good the show!
I have to say that the production is excellent, the singers, dancers, actors, and of course the music!
I have a great night.

Because it is great with a great story about the woman getting there rights. To me Broadway is much much better then the movie because they took out great songs. Most of the set is just one stage and how do they do razel dazel it is great.

The current Roxie, Michelle DeJean, is perfect for this part. She sings, she dances, she vamps and her comedic timing is just perfection.

We were so fortunate to see "Chicago" on REOPENING night of Broadway after the Nov 2007 strike ended. It was an AMAZING night. The excitement of the cast, musicians and conductor was papabable! The two female leads were AMAZING!!! Brenda Braxton plays Velma and Michelle DeJean plays Roxie. They are better than the actresses that played those parts in the movie. I saw "Chicago" on Broadway two years ago with Melanie Griffith playing Roxie. It was ... read more ok but Melanie could NOT sing or dance. The current Roxie, Michelle DeJean, is perfect for this part. She sings, she dances, she vamps and her comedic timing is just perfection. You WILL be blown away by this production!
