Liked it so much I saw it twice! Review by: DG, Jun 1, 2010 |
| I saw the show May 28 and again May 30. I loved it! The entire cast was excellent! I thought Ruthie Henshall and Terra MacLeod worked great together - exactly as expected for their particular roles. And both immensely talented. I don't think you get any better than Ruthie! I was concerned about Matthew Settle at first, but then realized that the cool, confident, aloof way he played the role worked very well. The stark set is a ... read more little strange, but it does allow you to concentrate on the talent. Chicago is a classic that should be seen, and this is a great cast to see! |

Not a great duo Review by: Melissa, May 22, 2010 |
| I saw the show on Thursday, May 20th. Front and center. I love Chicago and have seen it more than I can count. Terra MacLeod is excellent as Velma Kelly. Her voice is strong and sultry. Her dancing is athletic, yet feminine and smooth. She comes very close to Bebe in the role. They have Ruthie Henshall cast right now as Roxie Hart. I know Ruthie is a tremendous talent and such an excellent performer. I just couldn't wrap my head and ... read more heart around these 2 together on stage as Velma and Roxy. They do not play off each other, they are not a sexy pair together, they barely pull it off looking like "dueling" ladies. They are more like Girl Scout mother's fighting for front page headlines on the amount of cookies sold....not murderess vixens desperate for publicity. Their Hot Honey Rag at the end was forced and did little to impress the audience. I have been to Chicago where that closing number brings the audience to their feet!! To see Velma and Roxy perform together...WOW! Not these two..more like DUD. My advice - go see Chicago when the pair is stronger, for now spend your money elsewhere. The cast of dancers are terrific - and perfectly deliver every Bob Fosse gyrating, sexy, slinky choreography you want in the musical. |

Velma and Roxy Rock, but Billy should stick to TV--he hasn't got it! Review by: Rosie, May 17, 2010 |
| My daughter and I sat front and center for Chicago on Friday, May 14. Velma and Roxy were great singers, actresses and dancers as were all of the crew, but Billy was stiff, disengaged and would have wrecked the play if it were not for the great supporting cast and the FAB orchestra. He should stick to TV and don't see the show until he is replaced. |

Adored this show!! Review by: Robin, May 3, 2010 |
| I could see Chicago again, and again, and again. The dialogue and the lyrics are cute and entertaining, and the choreography is mesmerizing. The cast was great, but the standout was Brenda Braxton as Velma. She made a fantastic musical even better! |

You will be "razzle dazzled" Review by: MaggieKo, Mar 27, 2010 |
| I purchased tickets as a present for my mother and we werent disappointed. The dancing and mannerisms in this play are amazing. Instead of having scenery they have the orchestra playing on stage, which I love how the actors incorporated into the play. It would definately recommend this to a friend. Its more of a mature play and I would not reccomend this for children, however. I loved the music and singing in this play, you will not be ... read more disappointed. The women that play Roxy Hart and Velma Kelly were truly amazing. |

Great Show! Review by: Pat, Mar 4, 2010 |
| Loved the Show!!! Michelle Williams was a little disappointing since she could not dance as good as she can sing. Velma's dancing and the rest of the cast just put her away. Entertaining ALL THE WAY!!!. Would recommend highly! |

This show is the definition of "razzle dazzle" Review by: jenna, Feb 13, 2010 |
| this show is excellent! though the story may be a little "riskay", the dancing is excellent, and the songs are so catchy they should be sung out of the theater by the audience!! the cast is so talented, and what blew me away the most was Deirdre Goodwinn's performance of Velma!!! she was AMAZING!!!! GO SEE THIS SHOW!!!!!!! |

Great show - Terrible production Review by: Izzi, Nov 3, 2009 |
| I readily admit I've seen this show many times and always enjoy it, that is until I saw the Halloween matinee of this production. I took a friend who had never seen it and what a disappointment...this production is pew-pew. |

I've heard the bad reviews, but I LOVED this show! Review by: letthesunshinein, Sep 20, 2009 |
| I absolutely loved this show! I had heard all the less-than-razzle-dazzling reviews, but jumped when I got the chance for discount tickets. The choreography was fantastic, the music was stuck in my head for days, and the acting was phenomenal (although Jerry Springer could use a bit of work). I'm not a self-proclaimed "theatre expert" like some, but I've seen my fair share of shows, and I would definitely recommend going to see "Chicago"!... read more! Trust me, you'll love it! |

I enjoyed it! Review by: RH, Sep 14, 2009 |
| I had read the poor reviews and was reluctant to go see it but when we got discount tickets at the last minute we decided to give it a shot. I loved it! I had seen the movie but never a stage performance. It was very simplistic, nothing on stage but the band, and basically no costume changes. I kind of liked it that way though. It left the focus on the actors and singing and dancing. The actors and dancers that were ... read more in the performance I saw were great! Very good voices and great dancing. If you are looking for a big production, this is not the show. But the great story, voices, acting, and dancing carries it! |

barely worth it Review by: joe, Sep 5, 2009 |
| luckily i had read reviews before seeing this show (but after purchasing discount tickets) so i was prepared for the bare stage and minimal costumes, but the result is a dull experience. i also had the misfortune to see jerry springer as billy flynn and he is as awful as you would expect. everyone else was fairly good, i liked their voices and the dancing was OK, but all in all it doesn't add up to much, it certainly isn't worthy of broadway,... read more, it was more like a good summer production by a local theater company. arrive with low expectations and you won't be disappointed. |

Maybe it's time to retire this show, lackluster performance and zero effects Review by: Sarah, Aug 19, 2009 |
| This did not live up to my "broadway" expectations at all. I've seen several other shows on and off broadway: Phantom, Fiddler, Miss Saigon, Greece, Rent, the Music Man... Many of these musicals had weaker plots and much weaker music than Chicago, but they came off so much better on stage because of their talent level and production value. Performing Chicago (with it's amazing songs and coreography) should be like shooting ducks in a barrel, but ... read more they really did a poor job with this one. Velma looked way too old, and Roxy came off more whiny than anything else. The were zero costume changes and the most money spent on anything "razzle dazzle" must have been on the glitter pieces that fell from the ceiling during the song. Not worth the ticket price at all for what you get. Also, the band takes up the entire stage, so there is no room to do anything cool, even if they did want to spend more than $100.00 to put this on. |

Not sure of ALL THAT JAZZ Review by: tl, Aug 13, 2009 |
| I am glad that I can say that I saw this ONCE. That would be enough. Bit disappointed with the staging...some sound problems for those in the balcony...no real memorable songs for me...worth a discount price, but I would never pay full price...so many other good musicals out there. Some good moments, but overall I would just give it a "B". |

Pretty good... Review by: andrew, Jul 28, 2009 |
I thought the show did not quite live up to my expectations. I was expecting great things from such a famous show, but was not given what I wanted. I feel that the show has lost its spark. The theater was cramped and uncomfortable, but once the show got going I hardly noticed. Some of the music in there was forgettable, and I would need to see the soundtrack to remember it. DO NOT TAKE KIDS TO SEE THIS SHOW. This show features deep concepts that ... read more the kids would not get, as well as violent and sexual concepts that would be inappropriate for them. In my opinion, 12 or 13 is probably a good age for the kids to see it. Having said that... I loved the storyline of the show. It was captivating and interesting to see what life was like back then in Chicago, and even better to see it portrayed on stage. The choreography was phenomenal, a great jazz dance show. There were some songs that I still get stuck in my head from time to time; the songs that really stood out. Overall, I am glad I got to see the show before it closed, and I would recommend going out to see it if you get the chance, but I wouldn't want to see it a second time. If a friend suggested it, I would request a different show. I think the show will be closing soon... It doesn't have much time left. I would gladly go to see a revival in a few years, though. |
