boring Review by: shelly, Apr 28, 2011 |
I was hoping that the critics would be wrong, but I agree with them---very disappointed in the show---left after the intermission-- Aaron Tveit is very talented, but can't hold the lead for 99% of the time---Norbet Leo Butz is as always terrific-- Kerry Butler was nowhere to be seen in first act--what a waste of talent--songs were all the same---choreography not the best---expected so much more from the Hairspary team ... read more (one of my favorite shows of all time) |

Catch something else if you can. Review by: marshall, Apr 27, 2011 |
The show tried so hard to win you over but it is saddled with a concept that keeps the audience from getting involved. "My life was like a tv variety show.' And everything is in that framework. And it just seems uninvolving and cheesy. Some great performances from Aaron Tveit and Linda Hart. Thought NOrbert Leo Butz who is normally wonderful just ok. It was slick and had big Broadway Numbers--that would impress most neophytes to Broadway.... read more. Skip this one and also skip Sister Act and go to Book of Mormon or Priscilla or How to succeed or Memphis or Anything Goes. They are far Superior. |

Great fun! Review by: Legs, Apr 25, 2011 |
| What a wonderful show! This is a very entertaining version of the movie with minor character alterations that allow the stars to shine. Aaron Tveit is adorable and Norman Leo Butz, as always, is a super-star. His big number, alone, is worth the price of admission. The gorgeous chorus girls are fabulous singers and dancers. Take the family; it's a really fun musical. |

Disagree with most. So-so at Best Review by: Dan, Apr 23, 2011 |
| Hmmm. I don't know. I highly value the reviews on broadway box website because they come from regular people like me. The show was very lackluster to me. Everything about it was just mediocre. I started to doze off at times. I never made a connection with the lead. And the singing and dancing was just ok. Ive seen some other new shows that are outstanding such as Sister Act and Priscilla. It was amateurish theatre that I see in my ... read more hometown. I would not recommend. |

Go for Aaron and Leo! Review by: theater mama, Apr 18, 2011 |
| Interesting production of live orchestra on the stage with fabulous dancers set the tone for this imaginative show. While I didn't love it, I did like it. The show is Aaron and Leo for sure. Aaron has a great likeability and amazing singing chops. Leo is always fabulous but played Hanratty much different than Tom Hanks did in the movie. Leo plays Hanratty like he's a tired and been there/done it agent who's somewhat world weary. I wish ... read more he would have played his character more tiger like that he had to get this kid on the run. Kerri Butler has a fabulous voice and gets her one song to shine. This show will def run in the same vein as Hairspray thanks to a colorful production, fun dance numbers and catchy songs from Marc Shaiman. |

Catch Catch Me If YOU Can Review by: Barb E., Apr 17, 2011 |
| What I loved about this production was that the singing, dancing, and story were all equally superb. It made me laugh even though the story itself was very poignant. I hated to see it end and would love to see it again. It was the best production I have seen in years. Everyone who saw it with me loved it! |

Can't wait for the CD! Review by: Erica6, Apr 12, 2011 |
| The critics should go find jobs they are better at. I LOVED the show and can't stop singing the songs. I have never seen such an enthusiastic response to a show - everyone in the audience when I saw it, LOVED it. I wanted to be entertained and wanted to come out feeling upbeat and happy - it sure accomplished that. I actually thought the father-son dynamics was poignant, but fortunately not overpowering. I thought the lead, Aaron Tveit,... read more, was wonderful and what more can I say about Norbert Leo Butz but fabulous?! There wasn't an off note or a weak link in the bunch. I can't wait for the CD! |

Catch Mr. Butz If You Can Review by: PAM, Apr 11, 2011 |
| Great Norbert Leo Butz, however, the 60's lounge act feel doesn't add much to the production. Score is only so-so, especially considering the dynamite hooks in the composers' Hairspray score. The dancing is fine, but the choreography is another evening of unimaginative aerobics. Still Mr. Butz' performance is worth the price of admission. He is a truly remarkable talent. |

Review by: Little Lucky, Apr 11, 2011 |
I thought "Catch" was entertaining from start to finish. The vehicle - having the main character Frank Abagnale, Jr. (adeptly played by Aaron Tveit)tell his story in the context of an old-time TV special - was cleverly staged with a full orchestra that added immensely to the glitz and glamour of the show. Anyone who fondly remembers the swinging 60s or who wasn't around and wants to get a real feel for the "Mad Men" era should see this show. ... read more |
