Go See It Review by: David, Dec 5, 2011 |
| Great entertainment. The staging was wonderfully creative, the music great and the cast first rate. You know the story so no surprises there but this is definitely worth seeing. It's different. |

Bonnie and Clyde New Blood on Broadway Review by: jef, Dec 5, 2011 |
The critics are horrid here in NY, what do they consider entertainment? If left to them Broadway would be a ghost town. I hope this is another WICKED! I have followed this show for two years and was happy to see it arrive in NY. I was also prepared for the bad reviews Frank Wildhorn's musicals always get. I am not saying his work is not without it's failures, but what would Broadway be if no one tried, one revival after another, one Mouse ... read more show after another. Jekyll and Hyde was his best show, Bonnie and Clyde has some memorable songs, cast is young and wonderful (most original to the show in La Jolla, Ca.) the concept original, perfect no, but I was entertained for two hours. Please note I am a New Yorker and go to theater at least once a month. I love Broadway warts and all.

See this show! Review by: Chris, Dec 4, 2011 |
| I am perplexed. Having attended Broadway shows for years I thought I had discerning taste. I remember Gwen Verdon in "Sweet Charity" (with a nod to Helen Gallagher), Rosemary Harris , Eva LeGallienne, and Ellis Rabb in "The Royal Family", Angela Lansbury and Len Cariou in "Sweeny Todd", Meryl Streep and Christopher Lloyd in "Happy End" (with a nod to Liz Sheridan), Julie Harris in "The Belle of Amherst", Harvey Fierstein in "Hairspray",... read more, Christopher Reeve and Swoosie Kurtz in "The Fifth of July", Robert Duvall in "American Buffalo", Yul Brynner in "The KIng and I", William Daniels and John Cullum in "1776", Sarah Jessica Parker in "Annie", and Frank Langella in "Dracula" - I will now remember Laura Osnes and Jeremy Jordan in "Bonnie and Clyde" - all critics finding fault either lack credibility - or I have no taste. See this show! |

A very pleasant time Review by: fatherJ, Dec 4, 2011 |
a very enjoyable time. The production is quite different from the typical feel good show with dancing and glitz. There was a significant historical and cerebral part of production with an almost opera like and drama like component. Very highly recommended.

Go see Bonnie and Clyde for the singing! Review by: nyc local, Dec 2, 2011 |
The singing in the show was really fantastic, especially the leads Laura Osnes and Jeremy Jordan. Excellent voices for the rest of the cast as well. I thought some of the lines were funny, and enjoyed the story. To be sure this is not the typical Broadway musical since there is almost no dancing, if that is what you are looking for. The sets are pretty basic, but for me the singing alone made the show well worth it. Glad I saw this before ... read more the reviews came out, because I might have missed this show.... |

Worst of 2011? Quite possibly. Review by: todd, Dec 2, 2011 |
| Bonnie and Clyde (the characters) arrive on stage dead on arrival as Bonnie and Clyde (the musical) opens. Bonnie and Clyde (the musical) does the same thing. |

| Saw Bonnie & Clyde on Nov. 30th - really enjoyed it. Worth going to see. Singing, acting and staging were great!! Just would have liked the second act to be a little shorter - second act dragged a little, but still worth going to see the show. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. |

And they said Wonderland was bad... Review by: Jazzmama, Nov 28, 2011 |
I happened to love Wonderland...despite what the critics thought....but this show stunk. It was so slow moving I almost left at intermission. The staging reminded me of a high school musical. The leads were great but even they couldn't save it. I'm sure glad I didn't pay full price! |

Fantastic acting and singing, clever, touching script, great music, good story, brilliant integration of actual historical pictures. Can't wait to see again! Review by: nobodyinparticular, Nov 27, 2011 |
| The book kept you balancing between tragedy, comedy, and drama, and the story really had forward momentum, especially in Act II. The music is great, and you come out of the theatre humming. There is real historical footage incorporated into the musical, and it is brilliantly integrated as well as very interesting. The cast is fabulous, especially Laura Osnes (Bonnie) and Melissa Van Der Schyff (Blanche). I definitely wouldn't recommend ... read more having anyone under around 13 see the show, but for those old enough to appreciate the story, it is a must see! I can't wait to see it again. |

Crime Doesn't Pay ( and Neither should You! ) Review by: dear theatergoer, Nov 27, 2011 |
| There is a crime going on at the Schoenfeld Theatre and that's the simple truth when seeing Bonnie and Clyde: With all the talented assembled on the stage, there is no emotional payoff in the production. Aside from the strong cast, especially Laura Osnes and Melissa Van Der Schyff, and wonderful set and projections, B & C lets down its audience. You can't have a love story work without any love ballads between its leads, and the score is ... read more story-driven without any really memorable songs. ( Wildhorn's score captures the period well enough, but the lyrics by Don Black are pedestrian.) Jeff Calhoun has some strong staging, but his choreography is sparse and fails to have any energy. The real fault lays in the book which spends far too much time on the early lives of the criminals. (The crime spree doesn't even begin until Act 2.) So, it's a mildly entertaining time, that is, if you want to do the time. |

Skip the show, rent the movie! Review by: AlwaysHoping, Nov 27, 2011 |
| I hate to disagree with everyone here but saw this show last night and sorry to say another Wildhorn flop. Music was dull, repetitive, and can't say I left with any songs stuck in my head. Performances were great, but that's all I can say. If this show makes it, I'll be amazed. The book left out so many of the important aspects that the movie covered. I know a musical is different from a movie, but if you really want to enjoy two hours ... read more of entertainment dealing with B&C, skip this and rent the movie. |

Broadways New Hit Review by: EdH, Nov 26, 2011 |
| It's always a thrill to see something new and exciting on Broadway. "Bonnie and Clyde",exceeded my expectations, as I really loved this show. Laura Osnes,is amazing as Bonnie, she is perfect for the part.Jeremy Jordan also is great as Clyde, and has a great voice. The chemistry between these two is sizzling. Also enjoyed the supporting actors: Claybourne Elder and Melissa VanDer Schyff, they are both stars in the making. The music was outstanding ... read more as was the staging. Really had a great time seeing this show as well as meeting and getting pics and autographs from the cast afterwards. Go see this show!!! |
