a terribly dull evening Review by: Wingnutt, Mar 15, 2009 |
| A dull and flat production of a charming and (what should be) very funny play. I am STUNNED- this is a great cast and it should be a great production- but it isn't. A dreadfully dull set and a really tired pruduction- not worth my $$$. Not even worth a discount. Sorry- we wanted to love it- really! With THAT cast?!!! Wonderful! but, they tank in this lackluster and dreary production. |

Review by: Teresa, Mar 8, 2009 |
| Susan Louise O'Connor immediately set the pace of the show with her humorist and thoroughly believable portal of the fleet of foot maid Edith. Jayne Atkison was flawless as Ruth, and her timing was impeccable. I enjoyed both Rupert Everett as the irascible Charles Condomine, and Christine Ebersole gave an ethereal performance as the mischievous Elvira. And who could forget Angela Landsbury! She was an enchanting, slightly left of ... read more center medium, Madame Arcati. The Bradmans were also well developed and added the perfect foil to Madam Arcati’s antics! I found the show to be extremely funny and the cast played well off of each other. I enjoyed it from the first announcement to the standing ovation at the end. I would go to see it again! |

| Not an action packed show, but the acting was good. Angela Lansbury was amazing. It was well worth the ticket price. |

Well staged well played! Review by: SharonR, Mar 5, 2009 |
| Enjoyed the show very much. Cristine Ebersole is perfect as the ghost of spoiled brat 1st wife. Rupert Everett handles Coward's language with panache. Angela Lansbury plays Arcati with an energy and verve that defys her stated age. Blithe Spirit is very much a "chocolate box" piece. Just give in to temptation and enjoy a sweet confection that gives pleasure if very little substance. |

Producer Greed Sinks Show Review by: Mike, Mar 3, 2009 |
| Was it producer greed (count 'em -- there are 21 of them) that put Noel Coward's little comedy into the huge Shubert Theatre where it sadly sank(at the March 3rd performance that I attended). Sound system awful (this may be playing in a musical comedy house but it is not a musical), a tacky touring company set and some pedestrian performances and you have one big miss. Only Jayne Atkinson survivies unscathed. A real disappointment. |

Spirit Goes Flat Review by: , Mar 3, 2009 |
| I saw Blithe Spirit in previews. All around the show was flat. Having seen other productions of the show, I was expecting to enjoy the wit and levity of the show. However, the actors were not funny and the show became a slow drama. The cast is a big draw to this production. However, these fine actors are not engaging in this show. |
