mezmersing blues Review by: j. smith 7, Nov 25, 2009 |
| i was sorry to hear this show closed. i saw this show each time it was in new york...first at summer stage, then the limited engagement at the york in 2007, and opening night in 2009. this is an incredible and stunning show that should still be running. the masterful akin' babatunde'was mezmersing as the lead character with a dynamic supporting cast..a must see if it returns. |

Too many good songs to count Review by: E411, Feb 20, 2007 |
| Blind Lemon Blues has so many good songs I lost count. Yarbrough and Babatunde transform the stage moment to moment, telling the story of Lead Belly and his friend Blind Lemon Jefferson, backed up by 3 increadible ensemble members. The show is ensemble driven, held together by one great guitar player, Sam Swank. The show looks good and sounds great in the York. Russell Parkman's set is transformed by the lighting of Steve Woods to set the ... read more mood for each song. Get a ticket if you can. |

An evening of blues, not to be missed Review by: cupcake, Feb 19, 2007 |
| Great, not to be missed if you love the blues. A strong group of singers and one great guitarist play for nearly 2 hours. Simple but effective set and lighing round out the evening. The York Theatre is a great place to see this show, I felt like they were singing to me. |

If you like the blues, don't miss this one Review by: dusty, Feb 15, 2007 |
| I saw this show at Summer Stage in 2004 and found the performance first rate. When I heard it was opening at the York Theatre I got my tickets and saw it again. First rate with a strong cast, great music and good design elements. |
