Black Angels a must see....great actors give life to these hero's Review by: Direct 66, Apr 20, 2013 |
| If you want to see wonderful acting than you must see this play. Each character is played to perfection by these great actors. We feel for each one of them as they mature and progress throughout the play. They first appear as a group of individuals waiting in a testing room, then progress to flight school, and then mission assignment. This is all done in flashback and narration by one of the character's kin. Talent abounds in this play. We laugh, ... read more we sing, we rejoice, and we cry.It only has a few performances per week but see this show and you won't be disappointed. There is a convenient time between shows at 400p. And yes, if you don't already know the moving story of the Tuskegee Airmen this is also a very educational play set in our not so distant past. |

| This is a phenomenal play!! The acting is amazing and (although the set is rather simple) you are truly captivated from start to finish. I found myself laughing, crying, and singing along to some great music featured throughout the play. My boyfriend and I were in NY for a day and this definitely made it the perfect date night! |

A Must See!! Review by: DAKing, Oct 29, 2012 |
| This show was excellent and the venue was perfect!! I took my son and nephew to help them learn something about their African American Heritage. The all male casts did a great job capturing the audience's attention and taking us all on a journey back in time. The flying scene was very creative and gave me goosebumps. Kuddos to the playwright!! If this ever comes to Richmond, Virginia, I will see it again!! |

You'll laugh; you'll cry; you'll learn Review by: theaterjunkie, Sep 12, 2012 |
Have seen this play 2 times, about 8 months apart, once with my daughter and once with a friend. Each performance was fabulous, even though the cast was, with 2 exceptions, different each time. Which tells you: 1) the writing is wonderful and 2) they choose excellent actors to convey the lines. The venue, as you will read in other reviews, is not great because it is in an old synagogue, which, obviously, was not designed as a theater. ... read more Thus the stage is very small; the seats are all on the same level (not "stadium" style); there is no refreshment stand; there are no hearing enhancement machines. None of this matters in the least. The minute the play begins, you will be so engrossed in the dialogue and acting that you will not even notice the passage of time. Which prompts me to mention that this play, at 2 hrs. 15 minutes running time, is a throwback to the days when an evening at the theater meant a REAL evening - not the 80 or 90 minutes with no intermission so common today. On top of that, the cost of the ticket is a bargain for what you get, and if you can get a discounted ticket, you'll pay less than half the price charged for those other plays. So, how can you miss? The company has been trying to relocate to a larger space, and may be successful soon. But don't wait. Go now. You won't be sorry. |

What an AMAZING Show! I will be back for sure! Review by: Dr. Mays, Mar 25, 2012 |
| I saw this show last night and was moved to tears. I plan to return with my elderly father who was in the Air Force. I would recommend this show for anyone who is 13 and up simply due to the few obscenities that are used. It in no way detracts from the essence of the show. This show will leave a lasting impression on you and remind you of what our ancestors had to endure simply to receive some semblance of equality. |

A MUST SEE! Review by: Sandy, Nov 21, 2011 |
What an excellent story and well-acted play. A very humbling experience I won't soon forget. Thinking of this strong play still brings tears to my eyes. Saw the play on Nov. 19 and would go back to NYC this week to experience it again. I will tell all of my theater going friends to make sure to see this show. Cngratulations to all on a fine show and performances. I hope you are Broadway bound or on to the big screen! |

LAYON GRAY! LAYON GRAY! LAYON GRAY! SO TALENTED! Review by: Dee Dee, Sep 22, 2011 |
| This talented brother is on his way to be the talk of the town in New York city. Actor, Writer, Director, Producer! I have never been so involved with a play as I was with Black Angels Over Tuskegee. His writing reminds of you of the great August Wilson. I've heard it plans to go to Broadway. I will be in the front row! Well worth the $200 ticket! Kudos Mr. Gray. Thank you for sharing your talent. |

Fly over to see this play Review by: waymon, Sep 19, 2011 |
| Excellent play. I've seen a lot of plays. This is one of the best, if not the best play I've seen. The range of emotions, the dialogue, the story line were all very powerful. I would recommend this play for anyone. This play is a historic portrayal of triumph over adversity that will enlighten the soul and lift your spirit. |

Only a matter of time-------BROADWAY!!!!!!!! Review by: Lady, Jun 16, 2011 |
| This is one of the greatest shows I have seen (the closest being A Soldier Story) another story of early military life of African Americans. It is a play for the whole family and especially young males. Should inspire them to truly make something positive of their lives after seeing some of the struggle their counterparts has gone through. Definitely Broadway material--don't know why the power of being hasn't taken it there. Please ... read more go out and support and one day it maybe on Broadway. Phenomenal play!!!!!!!! |
