Moves you to the BARE bones! Review by: mars, Jan 28, 2013 |
| An excellent production! It addresses the reality of teenagers and their modern day tribulations. The acting, the talent, the setting, the entire production was incredible! I was never so moved as I was watching this production. So sad it is closing. |

FAILS, NO MATTER THE GOOD INTENTIONS Review by: LA Dreamer, Dec 18, 2012 |
Have to totally agree with the reviewer who ask's why try to fix a show that was a little flaw and turn it into the disaster this show has become. Over emotional and sentimental. Hey maybe I am old ... but this new version seems to want to jump firmly on the band-wagon. I expected better and the preservation and power of the original is lost for the sake of updating. I nearly left the theater at intermission (but honestly wanted to see ... read more how bad it would get.) In a week in NYC, I would rate this the worse show I saw - which is saying something. If the purpose of the show was to araise awareness for the plight of gay teens (of which I was one, not so long ago. I felt it fell on deaf ears and had no sympathy for any of the characters. Shame, many of the youngster that see the piece today - will not have the original to compare it too.

Very moving! Review by: Larry, Dec 15, 2012 |
I was so moved by this show, far beyond my expectations. What an amazing portrayal of the angst of adolescence in general, and of coming out in particular. The songs were stirring and wrenching--and sometimes hilarious. A number of the characters had powerful voices, but Jason was extraordinary! His wrenching portrayal of the war between love and fear in his closeted mind ("Role of a Lifetime" ) was one of the most stirring moments I ever ... read more experienced in musical theater. I can't wait until I have the chance to see it again! Still, there were a few things I didn't like so much: the portrayal of bullying was too understated (making the "cockroach" intimidation scenes seem silly, rather than cruel); Peter was a lovely person but not a great singer; the choreography was a little too simple for my tastes. Nonetheless, I can't think of a show that so moved me in a very, very long time. See it! |

If It's Not Broke - Why Fix It Review by: BroadwayBoy, Dec 12, 2012 |
Sadly I was very disappointed with this production. After originally seeing it a number of years ago, I eagerly awaited this new production. It seems to me all the great material has been cut - as have been some of the characters and their development.I can see why the creative team have tried to modernize the piece - by trying to tap into homophobia and bullying - they have watered down its effectiveness. The show loses Plain Jane Fat ... read more Ass, A Quiet Night at Home, See Me and Warning. The cast, however put a lot of energy into the piece, particularly the actor playing Matt. To be honest, I would rather have "A Quiet Night At Home" listening to the original soundtrack. |

BARE IS MOVING AND FUNNY: A TERRIFIC SHOW Review by: addisondewitt, Dec 10, 2012 |
| If not a great musical for the ages, one that will stay with you for a long time after you see it. A terrific young cast led by the brilliant Jason Hite as Jason a tormented gay jock, and the dazzling Missi Pyle as an understanding nu who also rips the place apart with a show stopping turn as a lounge act Virgin Mary. They are the two best in the show but every cast member plays and sings beautifully, Heart breakingly sad while at the same ... read more time funny, BARE is a musical well worth your rim and money.Highly recommended. |

Amazing Show- will see it again! Review by: DanaW, Dec 8, 2012 |
| What an amazing show! Great acting, awesome score, and talented actors. This show brings audience members back to a time when love was consuming and the most important thing on your mind (not that much changes as you "grow up"). This show is one I will be seeing again and again. It is dramatic, funny at times and touching. Go see it, you will love it! |

Go see it and give your full attention Review by: Steve , Nov 25, 2012 |
| Visually stunning and captivating performances by a stellar unique cast. The story about young reckless love within the confines of St Cecilia's boarding school was not only poignant, but totally current. This cast is super-talented with many stand out performances. The writing and music are moving, unfiltered, and emotionally peppered with brief points of humor. Definitely worth the price of admission one and two times over. You almost have ... read more to see it more than once to experience and grasp the shows complexity and artistic structure as there are multiple things happening simultaneously. In this particular show audiences are called upon to regress to a time in their lives when love was simple but hardly attainable. Go see it. |
