| I must say, I was dissappointed by with Banana Shpeel. The entire show lasted about 2 hours and there were about 3 good acts. I did not find it funny; it may be more appropriate from children. I recently saw OVO, and in comparison, MUCH BETTER. |

The best way to describe Banana Shpeel is by defining what it is not. Its not a musical, its not a circus, its not Cirque Du Soleil. Its really vaudeville on the NY stage. A series of various entertaining acts ranging from tap dancing to acrobat marvels set to music and strung together with a very lose plot line that some might say is not even necessary. So, if you realize what you are in for you can enjoy the show and marvel at the restored Beacon theater while you are there. |

| This show is really not worth the money or time. Me and my girlfriend went after seeing how much the tickets had been discounted and were massively disappointed. It has a few brief moments that are good, mainly the acrobatics and the russian pole dancer. The set is also quite amazing. But that's the good parts out of the way. The rest is pretty draining, boring, unfunny (in the extreme - such dumb humor) and unimpressive and it just goes ... read more on so long! It never ends! I really can't find any reason to recommend this show for the price and the time. There are so many better ways to spend and evening in New York and this shows that Cirque were really not thinking about their audience when they threw together this abomination. |

A new Banana Shpeel, different but fun! Review by: REC2010, May 7, 2010 |
First, I want to share that I saw Banana Shpeel in Chicago and I was so dissapointed because the show, even that had nice accrobatics, the best clowns of Cirque du Soleil,great music and dancing, simple was a chaos.
Now after all those delays in NYC, I gave Banana Shpeel a second chance and I saw the first preview at Beacon Theater and I have to say I had a fun night... the show is much much better of what I saw in Chicago. I really enjoyed ... read more the show.
It's important to say that this is a totally different kind of show from Cirque du Soleil, nothing similar to the Big Top or Resident shows... don't go expecting to see the same... here is theater combined with other different theatrical elements.
So if you want to have a super funny and happy night, go see Banana Shpeel. Im glad Cirque made all those changes on the show.

| don't bother getting tickets for this show. We bought 7 tickets as a birthday party for my daughter about two months ago and they've cancelled the show twice on us. I lost the handling fee charges and now I cannot get tickets for the same price that my original tickets were for. I used to think Cirque de Soleil is a reputable company! |
