I just purchased my 7th ticket. In fact, during my last visit to NYC, I saw it back to back. I love this show from start to finish. It's pure fun!! Oddly, though, the other seniors that I've noticed also seem to find it hysterically funny, whereas I've seen some younger folks look embarrassed at times. So definately not a show for prudes.

I'm no prude and I'll laugh at a good joke but this show was crass and really not funny. When the show was over - less than 20% of the audiance bothered to stand for the ovation. I've seen 5 shows in the last 12 months and this was by far the worst. The music was average, the lyrics were not good at all. The set was excellent - very well thought out.

A Show With a Very Good Point! Definitely a Wonderful Show.
Review by: Irish Fireman's Wife, Jul 13, 2009

This is by all means, fun, enjoyable ADULT entertainment and I left laughing and feeling like I've just had the best time at a Broadway show that I've ever had. The talent of not just the actors, but the writers, producers, directors, musicians, it all adds up to a wonderful experience. It also brings a fresh reminder that the whole point of the story is that no matter who you are, there's no reason why you can't be nice to your neighbor,... read more, co-worker, and the people you meet everyday. The message was about NOT being racist and I for one, will be sad when this show closes. I do hope you make a DVD of this show before it's final curtain call. So many people will miss out if you don't.

One of the best broadway shows I've seen in my life. True some of the things they say are blunt, but that's what makes this show so hilarious. The sheer uniqueness of this show is beyond compare. This so will have you laughing outloud throughout the entire day. I've seen it twice and will deffinatley be seeing it again. As for the people who suggest that this show is stupid and pointless, my statement to you is, "That's why Avenue Q beat out ... read more Wicked for best musical, right?"

Last fall, at the TKTS booth in Southport, we inquired about Avenue Q, and were told it is a puppet show. We declined. Last month, June 2009, I was again in NYC with my 17-year-old daughter, and we decided to go ahead and try Avenue Q. We both loved it. The show is well put together, and quite unique. The songs aren't West Side Story, My Fair Lady, or South PAcific like wonders, but catchy and fun. The puppets are great, and the dynamic of ... read more the actors and actresses simultaneously playing the roles played by the puppets is fascinating. Offensive? I'm more offended by conversations I overhear on public streets and mass transportation than anything in this show. I suspect those who find themselves offended are reacting to subject matter that doesn't fit their ideological belief systems.

Smart and honest
Review by: Vera Cobb, Jun 20, 2009

Completely sensational. Sure, the songs are shocking (Everyone's A Little Bit Racist), but ultimately, I found them very honest. It was an exploration of the taboo side of human nature, done in a very fresh, clever way. And if the opening number (What Do You Do, With A BA in English?) isn't the most hilariously accurate song ever written, I don't know what is. As for those people who are crying 'outrage,' if you've ever laughed at an episode ... read more of The Simpsons, this shouldn't distress you.

Avenue Q is about Real Life
Review by: Trekkie Monster, Apr 18, 2009
|
|
I took my 14 year old daughter to Avenue Q. Before I took to her to the show I told her about the plot. Her reply, "Dad, what do you think we talk about in middle school?" This show is the most hilarious show we have ever seen. The songs are catchy and witty. In fact we purchased the CD after the show and have been singing the songs ever since. This show is not for people who are afraid to talk about real life issues. ... read more The songs are completely honest about human nature.

To those who have rated this terribly: You must have had no idea what this show was about! No, it is not for young children, but for anyone who can handle puppets talking about a variety of taboo subjects and are willing to let go and just laugh...this show is amazing! The music is catchy and the interactions between the puppets and the actors are amazing. Must see!

I have wanted to watch a show on broadway since I was 10. I convinced my partner to go because it was "funny". I was very dissapointed, I did not find it funny in the slightest. The humour is crass not clever. I grew up with jim hensons muppets which were actually funny so maybe thats made me expect too much. The actors were very good, I liked the relationship between puppet and master but the content was rubbish! Its the only show I have ever ... read more been too where I haven't bought the album afterwards

This was a great show. I'm a teenager, but my dad said that he was embarassed at all to bring me. Avenue Q was absolutely hilarious with tons of vulgar and demeaning humor. If you find this show offensive, don't go! It's your fault if you get offended because you didn't read the reviews. However, if you enjoy this American Pie/Superbad humor, you will love the show.
