Much better than anticipated! Review by: rskblueyes, Dec 23, 2011 |
I wasnt sure how I was going to enjoy this concert. Although I have seen each of them in several shows and have some of thier CDS, I have always been slightly annoyed with there stage mannerisms.. Lupone: for her excessive vibrato, poor enunciation, and facial sneering; Patinkin: for his Histironics and over indulgence. I ended up being quite surprised by the concert. The song selections were wonderfull and performed with such charm. ... read more Both solo numbers and duets were all touching. The climax of the show with the numbers from Carousel was worth the admission...If you can get a discounted ticket and love musical theatre I reccommend this show. |

4 Standing Ovations !! Review by: lulu , Dec 22, 2011 |
| The audience at the matinee I attended thoroughly enjoyed the show, giving Mandy and Patti 4 standing ovations. The music selection was perfect for broadway. These are tony winning performers who have a great admiration for each other and it shows throughout the performance. The selections from Evita are sung with such passion it sends chills down your spine. To call these two outstanding performers 'over-the-hill' is not ... read more only insulting but a total misrepresentation of their combined talent. |

Cruise Ship Review by: Mike, Dec 13, 2011 |
| I'm a frequent theatergoer and have loved Ms. Lupone in her various roles (I confess Patinkin has always irritated me), but this "show" was embarrassing. Patinkin should be faulted for his "direction" and concept. The song selection was generally poor and most of the numbers require more than a piano and bass as accompaniment. Mr. Patinkin was not in good voice and the two surprisingly do not sing well together. In some parts I found ... read more it excruciatingly bad. I kept thinking it was like seeing a show on a cruise ship. Save your money and see something else. |

Do Cry For The People Who Paid Top Dollar Review by: Terri, Dec 9, 2011 |
| What a ripoff. High ticket prices and it was like they were singing (surprisingly not so great) around their house. In the words of Joanne Worley "Boooorrrrrrrrrriiiiiinnnnnngggggg. |

Not Worth The Money Review by: Dylan, Dec 8, 2011 |
| This was surprisingly painful to sit through. I've seen most everything on Broadway right now and I have to admit that this show may be the most annoying, my least favorite of all of them. There is something about the stripped down nature of it and the song selection that just didn't work for me. Felt more like a workshop than a Broadway level show. We were sitting on the front row and still bored? What does that say about the showmanship of ... read more these two? Mandy Patinkin, most annoying singing voice ever. And Patti LuPone? This was my 7th time seeing her in a show and I learned something about her: a little of Patti goes a long way. She's better suited to a real show where other actors, story and sets give the audience time to miss her again. I am so tired of these half-baked productions that make it to a Broadway stage just because they're cheap to produce and can turn a quick profit. This would have been a perfectly fine little evening in a cabaret somewhere. But on Broadway at $120 a ticket? For so many reasons, I did NOT enjoy this show. |

Spectacular - Enjoy Two Masters at the Top of Their Craft Review by: BroadwayBabySawIt, Nov 28, 2011 |
| Simply spectacular evening for anyone who loves musicals, music, great performances - or all three. Wonderful to see these two performing again - they clearly enjoy their work, and work from each other brilliantly. Both are amazing - to see them together is a great opportunity, particularly if you are a Glee fan - make sure to see two of the best vocal performers ever, it's a master class in musical theater. Ms. LuPone shines as always,... read more, and she just has to step into the spotlight at the start of "Don't Cry to Me..." to start a standing ovation - even before she sings. And Mr Patinkin is clearly having the time of his life here, don't miss them performing a mini-concert of selections from Carousel - simply wonderful. We also enjoyed the great choreography, thank you Ann Reinking - and the onstage duo on piano and bass are wonderful too. Do not miss this! |
