| I'm a Christian...involved with ministry full-time, and Saturday will be my 5th time seeing it. I am not offended by it at all...if anything, I think it really depicts the true love and acceptance of Jesus Christ...its a fun show, the jokes are there...yes, some are headed to a double meaning...but its ok, its not in my opinion ata l...a guy who is in the church world, racey or raunchy...I would even have this show done at a ministry event for ... read more cutting edge churhes...and the comment that somebody may be gay...Jesus loves ALL PEOPLE....and thats coming from a Staright dude!~ |

I can't imagine not liking it Review by: SiNy, Sep 20, 2009 |
| It's funny, the cast is very talented, the singing and the dancing is great. And you leave the theater feeling happy. I was there with my husband and 23-yr-old daughter and they both loved it. And it's not offensive at all. Some mildly racy lyrics in a couple of places, but that's it. I would highly recommend it to anyone. |

Loved the show and can't wait to see it again! Review by: MH, Sep 8, 2009 |
| I saw the Off-Broadway show on 8/31/09 with a friend. We were impressed with, and energized by, the acting, singing, and dancing from start to end! I bought the CD immediately after the show. I plan to take my family members to see the show the next time we are NYC. |

Would definitely see again, and bring my girlfriends from 7th grade! Review by: nyc, Aug 26, 2009 |
Fantastic show...went in with no expectations and I came out recommending it to everyone I know. My cheeks hurt from laughing and smiling the whole time. Growing up with the requisite boy band crushes throughout my time at a Catholic grade school, this was the perfect show for me! The dancing was too funny and the lyrics are so clever. I really had the best time. Also, this show is totally appropriate for families. A few innuendos,... read more, but nothing too offensive, and its funny even for younger people who might not understand them all. |

Don't Quite Understand the Hype Review by: FrisbieCat, Jul 14, 2009 |
Usually my impression of a show is fairly consistent with the views I read on BroadwayBox, but somehow I must have missed the boat on this one. There are a lot of glowing reviews of Altar Boyz here, but I just didn't get it. There is no plot in the traditional sense, just a bunch of guys singing songs, with breaks here and there for a few so-so jokes and skits. The songs were okay but not overly memorable, and the humor and skits were ... read more only mildly amusing. I give credit to the cast for their energy and commitment to the show, but I was underwhelmed. |

AWFUL, worst broadway show I ever saw (and I have seen a bunch of them). It was like a Nsync concert meets christian band that sucked. The jokes were minimally funny and their dance moves were so outdated. I almost thought they were kidding when they started dancing. The stage was not decorated and merely had an old banner that said Altar Boyz and the bored/unenthusiastic band playing in the back. Save your money and go see something else,... read more, like Ave. Q and Wicked. |

Hilarious! Touching! Review by: oatmeal, Jun 10, 2009 |
I love Altar Boyz! When my fiance got us tickets I didn't know what to expect. I don't like boy bands, etc. However, within seconds I was laughing with tears in my eyes and it didn't stop throughout the show. When you see this show, you're at the concert of a Catholic boy band "The Altar Boyz" their mission is to spread God's word and save souls. Everything goes according to plan until they realize their own souls need saving too. ... read more It's a hilarious, touching show that doesn't take itself too seriously. Go and be ready to laugh your --- off! |

| I was a little disappointed. I felt as though it was making fun of religion. Also alot of comments (jokes) to lead you to believe one guy in the group was gay. If you are a Christian, then you will be offended. If you aren't,then you will think it is funny. |

Funny, with a good message. Have seen it many times and will go again. Review by: Crunk, May 10, 2009 |
| I have now seen this show 3 times over past 6 months. The show is funny, has strong performers and really good music. I just don't get the posts from folks who were offended. I was raised Catholic, and brought my devout Catholic parents (they loved it). If you don't have a sense of humor or take your religion so seriously that you can't possibly fathom finding humor in it, stay away. You will only ruin it for those around you anyway. If you want ... read more to have a fun hour and 45 minutes, go see this show. |

The joke gets old after about the third song Review by: ScarletPimpernel, May 9, 2009 |
| I wasn't offended with this as much I was just bored by the humor. It never goes far enough to be considered 'religious bashing', instead just offering up a parody of various religious rites and doctrines. The jokes are corny enough that I chuckled a few times throughout the first few songs, but after about 30 minutes I spent the remainder of the show checking my watch. It beats the joke into the ground, and then just continues to run with it.... read more. It was almost as if there was an inside joke that I wasn't let in on, and I wouldn't have been surprised if they had broken character a few songs in and told us all we were getting punk'd. Really, with so many worthy shows in the theatre district, you can do so much better. Save your time and money and skip this bore. |

Great show that everyone should see! Review by: , Apr 15, 2009 |
| This show is HILARIOUS! If you want to go see a light-hearted, entertaining, fun show, see this! The actors are convincing, have great voices, and make you laugh. The songs are catchy and the lyrics are great. Some parts in the show were so funny, I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard! You can't help but have a huge smile on your face throughout the whole show. I've seen this show more than once, and I'll see it again...I really can't get ... read more enough of it! |

ALTER BLAH!!! Review by: Broadwaybuffoon, Feb 8, 2009 |
| I saw Alter Boyz as part of the 20at20 promotion yesterday afternoon. I am so glad that I only paid $20 for this show That's all it was worth. It was more like New Kids on The Block Meets Broadway. All the teenage and pre-teenage girls were screaming and drooling over these guys that couldn't act and could barely sing. The story line was weak at best. Go see it, if you can get a DEEPLY DISCOUNTED ticket but don't waste your time and hard ... read more earned money if you are forced to pay full price for this mediocre show. DISAPPOINTING!! |
