All Dolled Up is Outrageously Funny Review by: whatknot, Jun 3, 2006 |
| All Dolled Up is a wonderful, campy, over-the-top comedy that staid, button-down shirt crtics are sure to hate. The cast understands the farcical nature of the story and pulls out all the stops to provide its audience with a humorous laugh romp which is sure to please anyone who enjoys a belly-laugh a minute adventure. From the lead characters to the supporting players, everyone has a rollicking good time. If you're capable of letting ... read more yourself go and enjoying the crazy antics of the performers, you're sure to love this coming out goomba story with all its miscreants caricatures. GO and see for yorself and have a raucously entertaining evening of fun!! |

EMBARRISSINGLY BAD Review by: red rover, May 28, 2006 |
I hear Colin Quinn from Saturday Night LIve helped produce this God-awful piece. What in the world was this man thinking? This show was so embarrassing. Filled with cliches, cariacatures, overacting, underacting and totally inept direction and writing - it was a wonder that they ever raised the money to mount this. |

Are they kidding us? Review by: Patrick, May 23, 2006 |
I resent the comment above that it was "high school acting". As a former high school drama teacher let me tell you, we would have cancelled our performance rather than embarrass ourselves with anything so poorly done as this play. First of all the play makes no sense. It's the 60's in Greenwich Village and the gay characters wish there was a bar where they could go. Huh? I guess we were supposed to be surprised at the end when the ... read more head gangster reveals his own cross dressing fantasy -- but then why did they use his crossdressed image in all the publicity if it is to come as a surprise?!
If you are amused by people over acting, underacting, and just plain screaming to indicate emotion, then maybe, just maybe you could enjoy this.
The smartest thing they did was to avoid an intermission; otherwise I have little doubt they'd have been faced with an empty theatre for Act II. There were only about 30 people in the audience last night -- no doubt others had been warned how bad it was. |

Made the Day go by with a Smile Review by: James, May 15, 2006 |
Needed some good laughs. I sat down at the Acorn at Theatre Row and watched All Dolled Up on a reccomendation from a friend. I had no expectations. I was pleasently suprised. A nice light comedy that made the day pass with a smile. I attended with two friends and we enjoyed it highly. The actors were enthusiastic and had great comedic timing. The story is a bit far fetched but so are half the block busters coming out this ... read more summer.
If you are in need for a few good laughs please go see ALL DOLLED UP.
Also thought that Mr. Gallagher and Mr. O'Donohue were damn good. |

players motionless line readers Review by: John, May 8, 2006 |
| We have been to more than 20 plays mostly off Broadway this year this is the second one that was so bad we had to leave after 45 minutes. High School acting, script made for South Park, and players motionless line readers. Totally embarrassing. |

amazing funny Review by: unicorn, May 8, 2006 |
| Wow this show was a hit. I was blessesd to go to the saturday showing a night before previews. I looked in the audience and saw gansters and gay people laughing there ass off. Hitting home with wuotes about the struggle of all immigrants and the gay community which rose just like any street gang. Taking place in the history of ole' breuklyn. this play is worth the money. And they deck out the waiting area with cool pics. |
