Solid, though not amazing, show Review by: FrisbieCat, Sep 23, 2009 |
Well, I hear all of the points that the previous reviewer made, although I think they are a little bit harsh. This is not a breathtaking play by any means, but I thought it was a reasonable, solid effort. The acting was a little better than I thought. For example, I figured Sienna Miller was famous for being famous, but she did a good job. The play unfolds slowly and deliberately, but I thought that was part of the charm; it was nice ... read more to see a play that doesn't pander to audiences that expect non-stop action. I think this is one of those good, not spectacular productions that won't move you but that should be a couple good hours of drama and entertainment. |

Great show to see! Review by: Krissi, Sep 23, 2009 |
I thought the show was fantastic! All 3 characters did a fantastic job and although the show ends rather abruptly, it leaves the audience thinking about what happens. There was a lot of passion between Sienna Miller and Johnny Lee Miller and Marin Ireland is fantastic in her role. I go to the theater a few times a month and would definitely recommend seeing this play. |

Wish It Was Better Review by: BroadwayBabySawIt, Sep 20, 2009 |
We wish this was better. It must have looked good on paper, but the pieces do not add up to a real theater experience, at least not yet. The only really theater thing about it is the lighting, which is superb. Some suggestions to bring it up to Broadway standards: 1. Please remind the actors that this is not a VIP club event just for them. A live audience is present, and paying, and so deserves something to care about. We the ... read more audience are never part of the club here, and so we don't really care what happens. It is much more like a film than a play. 2. Cut that table down - the set is dominated by a huge, rectangular table. If the actors had made physical characteristics part of their work, we might learn something from their restless wanderings around and around the table. But as all 3 move the same, and sound like they are reciting lines to themselves, the large table gives the effect of 3 mice running around a maze. None of them seems familiar with the set, and all the running around is dizzying. If you cut the table down, it might encourage them to actually talk to each other, so instead of reading their lines, they might start to live them. 3. THe story has no tension, no real drama, nothing to really engage us yet, other than the mystery of how they make that crunching noise when the little bird dies. There are no surprises, and that is sad. 4. Please, please give us a real ending, a theater ending, not just the formulaic cut to black. The production doesn't end, it just stops. We don't really know what happens to anyone, including Miss Julie, who seems to be going out to get her nails done, or to do some shopping, while holding a razor in her hand. We should care about someone here, and we don't, even at the end. 5. There is no sexual tension here, ever. How can that be? Was that intentional? Not sure. All 3 characters seem to want something other than what they have, but that's as far as we got in understanding why any of them are manipulating the others. It is certainly not based in any passion that we could see, its more like high school kids on a bad date, waiting for someone or something exciting to arrive and liven things up for them. And we are still waiting when the lights go out. We hope that someone takes the time to overhaul this production before the critics have their say, otherwise, the reviews will be tough. Good luck to everyone involved, we wish you the best. |

Loose lips sink shows Review by: broadway fan, Aug 9, 2009 |
| Saw Sienna Miller on one of the morning shows, she gave away the ending of the show. Now, I know what happens to her character, not a wise move. |
