It's a "Wow!" kind of show - I really liked it. Review by: Glen, Oct 17, 2008 |
| I too saw the show in preview, and then again after its opening. It was a more tightly constructed story the second time. The focus was tighter on Carton, Lucy, Darnay and Dr. Manette's story, all of which were tied to the roots of the people's revolution in France for which Madame DeFarge and her family's tragedy, served as a focal point. It is an exciting, romantic, and tragic story, with integrity and redemption at its core. The voices across ... read more the board are wonderful and brilliantly appropriate to each character, from the stars - Barbour, Burkhart, Lazar, Edelman - on through the featured characters - Early, Wyman, Bennett, Mauzy, Aber - and ensemble. It's a "Wow!" kind of show experience, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. |

Great singing, good story, wonderful evening! Review by: Cathy, Oct 16, 2008 |
| Yes, it reminds one of Les Miz. (which I've seen a few times) But the reminder is a good thing! This story felt even richer than Les Miz, with the love story giving additional emotional pull. I saw Tale in preview, planned to see it again, then read the reviews that weren't so great! I was dismayed...but I still plan to see it again! And when the CD comes out with the NY performers, I'll buy it! |

| I saw "A Tale of Two Cities" in its "preview" period and I thought it was fabulous . . . talented cast, gorgeous costume design, incredible music/voices, and the story, was of course, classic. Frankly, I feel that it was better than LeMis, at least in terms of the magnitude of the impact the performance(s) had on me. I live in California, but am a frequent visitor to NY/Broadway and always see at least a show or two when on the East Coast. GO AND SEE- WHAT A SHOW Review by: Valerie, Oct 13, 2008 |
| I was very impressed with this show. The acting was top notch and the singing was superb! I have now seen many Broadway shows and have to say this one is at the top of my list for favorites. Make time to go and see it as you won't be disappointed. Be ready to laugh and cry and at the end you will be standing up applauding. This one gets my standing ovation!!! |

Ignore the critics -- see it. Review by: NYC theatergoer, Oct 9, 2008 |
| I've seen the show twice and loved it. Yes, the music isn't as catchy as Les Mis. But the singing is amazing (especially James Barbour) and the story is compelling. See it! I may even see it again. |

Thanks Word of Month!!! Going again!!!!! Review by: beeRad, Oct 3, 2008 |
| People I work with told me to be sure and see this!!! I thought it was the type of musical missing on Broadway for a long time. Going back with more of my friends. James Barbour is fantastic. I don't know what Brantley (NY Times)was watching. |

Tale is for Everyone. Review by: Hanna's Mom, Oct 2, 2008 |
Simply a wonderful night out. I've seen Les Mis at least 10 times over a number of years. Les Mis is a cat and mouse chase musical, very dark costumes, dark staging, little humor, and dead people even come back to life to sing... Tale is a simply a well put together smooth, captivating show. Sophicated but not snobby (maybe that is why the critics and been so relentless). Tale is very funny at times, contrasted by serious search ... read more to make a life count for something. The journey is fabulous. A show with a positive message. Definately a show for the whole family. My children loved it and we are going back. |

A Tale done so well - it will be most memorable Review by: Shana, Oct 2, 2008 |
| I saw this show Wednesday at the matinee performance. I cannot remember when I have been so moved by a musicial perfmance- i liked it better than Cats, titanic, Les Miserable- It was just wonderful. The sets and costumes were just superb - the most talented cast. The music made Dickens come alive for us. I was hesitant to see it because of the negative reviews - but the audience gave them a standing ovation!! Bravo for a wonderful play ... read more on Broadway finally!!! |

A Tale of An American Women-Jill Santoriello Review by: Smitten, Oct 1, 2008 |
| Do not miss this show! Jill Santoriello who wrote the book, music, and lyrics has done a magnificient job of bringing this Dickens classic to life. James Barbour leads this production with a vocal mastery like no other. However, it doesn't stop there Natalie Toro, Aaron Lazar, Kevin Earley, Gregg Edelman, and the very beautiful Brandi Burkhart. The entire cast is probably the finest group of vocal talent assembled on Broadway today. Really! ... read more |

GO SEE IT! Review by: Bintime, Oct 1, 2008 |
| My wife and I almost didn't see A Tale Of Two Cities because of the reviews. Friends of ours talked us into it and I gotta say, we were blown away! The story is fantastic, the sets, music, lighting, singing -- it was all superb. We laughed and cried and I couldn't stop thinking about the show for days. If we had listened to the critics we would have missed one of the best shows on Broadway. Go see it. |

A Must Miss Review by: rcaseyh, Oct 1, 2008 |
Although the performances were quite good, the score and book are sorely lacking. A "Les Miz" wannabe which comes up short. I'll be surprised if it lasts until winter. For the price of the tix (even at a discount)... definitely check out something else. |
