See it for the Actors Review by: Chris, Oct 14, 2010 |
This play has 26 scenes (some that are very short and some that are an average length). The two actors, Patrick Stewart and TR Knight, are both very well cast in their spots. I think everyone knows that Stewart is a Shakespearean-trained actor, and has his roots in the theater. But, props to TR Knight who made a very nice jump from Grey's Anatomy onto the Broadway stage. (I could imagine a younger Matthew Broderick playing the part that TR ... read more Knight plays.) There are a lot of scenary changes in he play (some of the changes have absolutely no reason). Generally, this is a very pleasant night at the theater. If you go into the show with an open mind (not expecting great drama), you will be surprised at how good this show is. |

Would see it again and again. Review by: SB, Oct 12, 2010 |
| This one's a winner! Patrick Stewart was a delight as was his younger sidekick T.R. Knight. Both are extremely talented and entertaining, with perfect comedic timing. Thoroughly enjoyed this funny, light-hearted, but touching show. I'd recommend it to everyone. |

Ho-Hum Review by: Carol, Oct 9, 2010 |
| Though it has its moments, A Life in the Theatre, is largely dull. It's a pity that the dizzying, split-second costume changes are the focus rather than the acting and and the scenes at various points. Some scenes are very funny; others should be cut. It's really a waste of talent and an evening of an acting exercise. |

Amusing Moments but Generally Disappointing Review by: Prosebud, Oct 6, 2010 |
| Really disappointed with this one. I had been so eager to see a Mamet play with this fine cast, but the material seemed so superficial and the scenery changes were too frequent and dizzying. Actually, I didn't understand the point of it at all. |

No "Life" in this Theatre Review by: Bklyndaddy, Sep 23, 2010 |
| I saw a preview of A Life In The Theatre and am sorry to say the talents of both actors are wasted in this 90 minute collection of scenes of theater life. Some funny moments but overall it was dull. Patrick & TR please find a better piece to do eight times a week. |
