1 Great Entertainment! Leaves You Feeling Good!   Review by: mello-roll man, Feb 9, 2007
You don't have to be Jewish or from Brooklyn to love this show. (My wife is from Texas and she loved it.) Jake Ehrenreich is funny, warm and a first rate performer. In "A Jew Grows in Brooklyn," he opens his heart to the audience as he shares his life story. There are lots of good jokes that go over well and poignant moments besides. Ehrenreich is backed by a 4-person band/singing ensemble and the musical numbers are terrific.

2 The Audience as old as the Jokes.. don't go!   Review by: theaterguy, Jan 8, 2007
Oh my god, this would be better described as a Jew grows old in Brooklyn. The real question about this show, is who really cares! This was the worst afternoon of theater and we took my parents who also hated it.

Just how many times can you throw a Yiddish word for no reason in the dialogue? This actor is marginally talented and for $65, what a waste of money!

Saw this show with 3 friends and we all loved it. Jake is an amazing performer, singing, playing various instruments, can tell a story a and a joke, plus knows how to connect with the audience. Being both Jewish and from Brooklyn, and around the same age as Jake, it really brought back memories of growing up in Brooklyn, going to the Catskills, and various other life events. It was a wonderful show.

4 What a treat! You'll love it!!   Review by: Lady Lawyer, Nov 1, 2006
As a first generation American Jew, whose parents were Holocaust survivors, I found this show to be marvelous. It was warm, loving, nostalgic and utterly entertaining. I saw this show with a friend who is a fourth generation American, and wondered if her experience mirrored mine. Indeed, she embraced the show in the very same way as I did. Although not familiar with some of the Yiddish songs, they warmed her heart as they did mine. ... read more

5 Funny, entertaining and poignant!!!   Review by: She, Oct 16, 2006
This was an entertaining show that left my husband and I talking about it for several days after the show. You don't have to be Jewish to love this show. It is easy to relate to the actor growing up in a finacially struggling home filled with lots of love from the family. Yuo can also relate to the times in which the author grew up. We loved the fact that Jake, spoke with the audience and we felt as if we were sitting in his home instead ... read more

7 A must see -- great story and music.   Review by: jes, Aug 10, 2006
Jake is a truly accomplished actor/singer/comedian. It was most enjoyable to look at the jewish culture as it was in the post war days in Brooklyn. Even if you are not a Jewish person the story is interesting and the music wonderful.
A must see

8 WE LAUGHED, WE CRIED, BUT MOST OF ALL WE ENJOYED!!!   Review by: CYBERSANDI, Jul 31, 2006
What can you say about a show that was a one man show, a musical, a drama, AND A COMEDY all wrapped up in one delicious package. Jake is the consummate performer. I heard it was going to Broaday and I sincerely hope it does. I laughed, I cried, and so did my husband and friend. He sings Hebrew songs like a Cantor, not to be believed!!!! Does this sound like I loved the show------I can't wait to see it again!!!!! If you were from Brooklyn, ... read more
