Dull, Awful Bore! Review by: bwayj, Jul 7, 2009 |
Started out promising but then falls flat right at the the point when they smoke the marijuana, From then on got worse and worse. Janney cannot sing. Hilty brings nothing to the Doralee role; She is just doing a complete Dolly Parton impersonation from the film. The choreography is laughable; Boring, repetitive, nonsensical! BBox you should add 'friends' to the "I went to see this show with:" category. You should add 'no one' to the ... read more "I recommend this show for:" category. |

This show suprised me...in a good way. Review by: Aly, Jul 3, 2009 |
| I went into the theater having heard many bad things about this show but was pleasantly surprised. Allison, Stephanie, and Megan were fantastic as expected but the rest of the show was great too. The music was nothing special, but a lot of fun. The choreography was cute and the sets were interesting. There were also a handful of fun supporting characters thrown in there too. Overall a good time, and not what the critics' reviews are saying. |

Nothing Great Review by: nyfan, Jul 3, 2009 |
| The reviewer below is exactly right. This is a run of the mill show for blue haired ladies from the suburbs, coming into the city on a tour bus for the matinee. I don't mean to sound insulting, but that's the only way to describe the show. The leads were good, especially Megan Hilty and the sets were terrific, but sets do not make a show. The music especially was nothing much--I felt as if Dolly Parton had stitched together songs from all of ... read more her albums, and shoehorned them into the show. Not a horrible night out, but very forgettable. |

Way Too Silly For Me Review by: frequent theatre goer, Jul 2, 2009 |
| I seem to be in the minority who did not really like this show. I go to Broadway shows often so perhaps that is the difference. I feel this show is for a tourist, who has nothing to compare it to. You certainly don't walk out of here with the 'wow' factor or singing a song. The only thing I liked were the sets. I would compare this mediocre show to Grease, Wedding Singer, Xanadu and look how long those lasted, but I don't see how ... read more people can call this show great - it doesn't come close to Jersey Boys, Mama Mia, Hairspray, Lion King, In the Heights.... Many of the scenes were just plain silly. |

Dont miss it Review by: susan, Jun 29, 2009 |
| First time in New York, first time seeing a musical (or anything!) Its all downhill from here - this was amazing. The sets were great, the 3 leads were great, I loved all the leads, and the songs were great. We came out laughing, I wish I could see it again. (The next 2 nights we were at the ballet,(*****) and to see The Philanthropist (not so great) |

So much fun! Review by: jshoover, Jun 25, 2009 |
| I went to this show thinking it would be a run-of-the-mill show, and was pleasantly surpised by how much fun I had! Allison Janney may not be the best singer in the world, but she makes up for it with her acting and comedy, and the other 2 leads were wonderful! Megan Hilty was adorable in the "Dolly" role. A very enjoyable afternoon! |

GO NOW !!! Review by: Lulu , Jun 15, 2009 |
| What a joy this production is! I picked this play to go with 2 out of town guests and we ALL loved it! The music was great, the 3 leads were outstanding.I had seen Stephanie J Block in Wicked and Boy from Oz, and her voice is marvelous. If you close your eyes you will believe you are hearing Dolly Parton, Megan Hilty is a perfect choice. Marc Kudish as Mr Hart was hysterical. This is a MUST SEE production!!! |

Review by: Thatguy, Jun 8, 2009 |
| I saw this and six other shows while in NYC and this was one of the best we saw. The set changes were very clean and fun to watch from mezzanine seats. The three leads were completely believable. The music was a little bit ridiculous at some ponts, but also fun at some points. The jokes were very funny and in the end this show was very entertaining. |

The NY Times Was Right Review by: nyc, Jun 3, 2009 |
| The reviewers got this one correct. It's like the creators sat in a room and thought of everything they could include to make sure that group sale tickets went through the roof. Ka-ching! Very little creativity, horrible music, stupid lyrics and forgettable choreography. But those group sales will be coming! |

9 to 5, What a Way to Spend An Evening. Review by: Robo, Jun 2, 2009 |
I loved the movie and wasn't sure what to expect from the musical but after seeing I went right away to buy another ticket to see it again. The cast is incredible. Not only do they live up to the movie's iconic characters they all brought some of their own qualities. The whole cast did a great job. The songs are fun and the titla number sets the show onto a high energy ride. The direction keeps the show flowing right along. The ... read more choreography was creative and entertaining. The sets were especially impressive. I enjoyed it even more the second time. |

9 to 5 GREAT SHOW GREAT TIME! Review by: Theaterbuff, May 27, 2009 |
| My friend and I were in the 3rd row off to the side. Although we couldn't see a portion of the left side of the stage, most of the show was well centered and not a distraction. My friend and I figured for the price we paid a piece it was definitely worth it even though it was slightly partial view. The show was AMAZING!!! The Cast was superb, the songs were catchy and enjoyable, the sets were huge and we loved how the moved gracefully ... read more in and out of scenes. Our show had one glitch, Marc (the main man character) must have either got caught as he rose to the ceiling in one of the scenes or something because the stopped the show for "Technical Difficulties" for about 5 minutes. The whole situation was handled very well and the show went on from there till the end. This show DEFINITELY DESERVES to WIN the TONY for BEST MUSICAL If you get a chance to see this show GO You WON'T REGRET IT! We are planning to see it again and bring more of our family and friends next time! We also LOVED how the curtain is made of telephone wires and telephones VERY COOL! |

Words and Music you can hear.Fun,fun, fun! Review by: Diract66, May 23, 2009 |
| It's just a lot of fun. The story is out of date for today but the sets were always moving in and out and very creative. This should win for set design. If you want to finally hear the words to a song in a musical, this is the show for you. We sat in the Mezz. and had no sight line problems. See this on the discounts if possible, to save money. The ladies were all good, but Allison Janney is the weakest of the trio. Another highlight is a ... read more song in the bathroom, an excellent comedy bit. Supporting players have a great chance for acting awards this season. A funny, enjoyable, and entertaining show for the whole family. |

Best show in a long time Review by: Gumijo, May 20, 2009 |
| Just came home from seeing the show and it was great. Had to twist my friends' arms to get them to go but at the shows end they all thanked me for insisting. We and most of the audience actually danced as we left the theater. Haven't enjoyed anything this much since seeing Wicked. |
