| I can't imagine anyone who isn't a card-carrying crab-apple not enjoying this show. I've seen a lot of theater over the years, and I'd rank this in my top five of favorites. It shows you don't have to have chandeliers crashing onto the stage to put on an engaging show. Highly recommended. |

This play is a cure for insomnia! Review by: CoronaKid, Aug 16, 2010 |
I was literally nodding off toward right before intermission. When they brought up the lights it literally startled me awake. The audience applause at intermission was also quite weak. I'm guessing I wasn't the only one asleep. This play appears to be on its last legs because the theater was only about two thirds capacity and they are now begging people to see the play at 50% off. It had a few laughs here and there, but the corny humor ... read more and stage tricks quickly became old and tiresome for me. On the bright side, I was able to get much better seats for the second half due to the fact that many seats were empty.

Lets the audience in on all the fun, of which there is plenty Review by: Tay, Jul 29, 2010 |
| I can't understand how anyone could not like this show. It's creative, funny, fast-paced, and, maybe best of all, it invites the audience members to use their imagination as part of the story-telling. And as others have mentioned here, it's not only suitable for people of all ages, it's not to be missed! |

Forget it! Review by: Carol, Apr 14, 2010 |
| I guess this foolishness appeals to some, but it was mostly stupid and a waste of an evening despite its pretense at being a testament to Alfred Hitchcock. He's probably spinning in his grave at this amateurish production. |

Great comedic twist, under-rated acting! Review by: LesMis Rocks, Jan 2, 2010 |
| This was just a plain, good show. It's a shame that it's ending on Broadway. If you can go out to see it before it closes, you'll be glad you did. It started out a little slow, but the laughs are constant from start to finish. It's very clean...no swearing. A GOOD play does not need to laced with profanity or innuendo to be good, and this comedy has that. There were many references to Alfred Hitchcock movies and there's that little surprise in ... read more this show that was a trademark of every one of Hitchcock's movies...if you're a Hitchcock fan, you'll know what that is, and it happens in this play, too. |

39 Hours Review by: goldenboy, Dec 15, 2009 |
What a tedious night in the theatre. I couldn't wait til it ended. The cast seemed to be enjoying themselves. I'm glad they had fun I could care less. Not very good satire and a total waste of time. It is amazing to me that this has lasted so long on Broadway and gotten good reviews. HWhy satirize a 40-50 year old movie. does anyone care? |

The 39 Creative Steps to Imaginative Fun Review by: Diract 66, Dec 14, 2009 |
| So the first day of rehearsal the director says to the cast. "You will play the lead guy, and you will play the female lead, and you two will play every other character in the play. Okay?" Well yes, OK! I thought this was the most creative play and one all actors should see because of the fine performances of "every other character". The set and the use of the boxes were very inventive. If you want elaborate sets and costumes, this ... read more is not the play for you. But if you want to see highly skilled actors going from one character to the next in record breaking time, a play where you can use your imagination, as well as your mind, and just have fun, then this is the play for you. The 39 steps was a Hitchcock movie and he does appear in this play. If you are a theatre person and tired of the same old fare, get your discount ticket and see this show. This show would also be very successful in an off-broadway house. A rental of the movie will make you appreciate the show even more. See theatre come alive with min. set, min. costumes, min. actors, and max. entertainment. |

Like a Very Long Improv. Review by: Dave H, Oct 28, 2009 |
| Five of us (ranging in age from 12-52)saw this show and nobody liked it. There are some funny and witty moments but overall it got boring. Reminded me of Whose Line Is It Anyway on TV. I don't know how they can justify the ticket prices for this show. |

A great show for the family (and adults) Review by: nick, Oct 14, 2009 |
It is very hard to find a show to appeal to both adults and my children age 17-10. The older boys hate musicals and are too old for Disney productions. There are many shows inappropriate for a 10 year old. This show is great because it is the anti-big broadway show. Simple sets, 4 actors who play multiple roles, quick paced and funny. A great example of what one can do with a good script and good actors. My 17 year old boy said that ... read more he would go to more shows if they were all like this! |

A fun and unique broadway experience Review by: tuttle, Aug 19, 2009 |
| I really enjoyed this play when I saw it last winter. The cast is very talented and the physical comedy was great. The use of the minimal props and set is brillant! I think it takes a clever mind, a good sense of humor and a Hitchcock fan to trully appreciate this play. If you are into the same-old cheesy musicals with multi-million dollar sets, then this one is not for you. If you want a unique broadway experience, some laughs and a good ... read more time that is also family friendly, then go see this play! It pays to see the original movie first so that you get the jokes better. There are lots of references to other Hitchcock films as well. I don't know how people are saying it was slow moving and long. The play is very fast paced and it is only about 1hr, 30min long! |

Review by: Gemma, Aug 16, 2009 |
| This is a clever show with a fantastic cast. They were masters of physical comedy and worked very well with creating sets out of virtually nothing. I personally stayed engaged the entire time. That being said, I can see how some aspects of the show might be a bit boring for some audience members. It's more of a visual performance than anything else. The plot is somewhat weak, and you might not feel very "wowed" by the ending, but ... read more on the whole it's enjoyable. I was one of the younger people there (in my twenties), while much of the audience seemed about 50 plus. Go if you get a chance. It's a nice change from the usual sold-out shows. |
