13 see it with the kids Review by: srgan, Oct 1, 2008 |
| i've seen the show and thought it quite entertaining. if you want to expose your teens to the theater then this is the show. contemporary music and subject matter preformed by teens. all the actors performed much better than i had imagined. strong vocals and dance numbers. you'd think that without an intermission you might get boring but i found myself enthused by the engery emitted from the stage and the audience..an as far as this show being ... read more offensive..Please..just turn on the t.v. you'll see and hear much worse. theres nothing in this show that they haven't already heard before. |

Run to see this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review by: Pudgiebird, Oct 1, 2008 |
| I just took my kids to last nites show. It was great. The cast was great, the show was so much fun. Last year we saw In the Heights, and I predicated it would win the Tony. This is a must see show, this will win something this year. My kids loved it anbd there are 10 & 12. |

Excellent songs, excellent choreography, talented kids: Would see it again!!! Review by: winnie, Oct 1, 2008 |
| I thought the show was exceptional--book, songs, choreography, set, and costumes. The kids were all "triple threats". I thought it was very touching the way the writers had "Archie" (the disabled kid) act like a normal teenager --sometimes obnoxious, sometimes lovable, often funny, and with a disdain for "jerks". Make him very cute, add wisdom beyond his years and normal desire to be liked by the most popular girl and you get a really engaging ... read more character. I could write much more, but I don't want spoil the story. Just see this show. It is worth the cost of the ticket. |

Wait for discounted seats.... Review by: Broadway Obsessed, Oct 1, 2008 |
| Saw show during previews. It was exciting to watch these talented kids perform. The lead needs to get more into character. The first and last song were the best. Some of the music was piercing because of the screaming not singing. Kids from 8-15 will love it. For adults it's tolerable. Also, a bit offensive to people with disabilities. Sets were simple. Storyline cute. I can't see this show lasting till Christmas. Overall, it is a place ... read more to take the kids but not worth full price. |

| the show was AMAZING. the kids were all very talented. a few could use a little help here and there but nothing so big that a week of previews can't fix it up. |

I would be shocked it this lasts as long as Glory Days did (and thats not saying much!) Review by: l boogie, Sep 26, 2008 |
| wow- did i see the same show as you guys? it was totally offensive- in every way- offensive to jewish people, gay people and disabled people. i mean, hello- there is a song that says "who can say no to a kid with a terminal illenss?" that is so inappropriate! to joke about how the kid on crutches gets what he wants b/c he's dying- and then use him for it to get you things? it sends a really bad message for young teens, which is the ... read more entire demographic of the show. i understand that musicals should not be taken too literal, but even with that in mind, this show was very disturbing. the acting was OK, for young teen actors- however the score and book are sadly offensive. |

13: The New Hit Review by: Adam, Sep 24, 2008 |
I LOVED THIS SHOW! I thought the score was very original and I found the book to be funny at the right times, but serious at other times. The cast was amazing!! The thing I loved most about this was how true it stayed to modern teenage life. |

Review by: JEFF S., Sep 22, 2008 |
Saw the same show on Saturday matinee and agree completely it was great fun... The boy playing Evan for the Saturday and Sunday matinees was a Billy Elliot in the London show and was sent to Sydney a couple of times when they needed a spare Billy Elliot due to injuries. (This was Corey I assume)...but I wonder how well he did with the English accent in Billy...here sure spoke like an American here. |

| Show was cute and fun but ONLY for kids. The opening number and finale are the best part. The ending needs to be rewritten. The cast is great and exciting. The alternating lead needed some work. |

Fun show for all! Review by: rskblueyes, Sep 22, 2008 |
I saw the show on September 19 ( the 3rd preview performance). I really enjoyed the show. The book was funny and touching in all the right places. The score is a mix of ballads, pop, rock and hip-hop; all with clever lyrics. All of the performers were early teens, but all have had broadway or regional theatre experince all it shows. What a talented cast! The premise of the show is very simple, dealing with the ... read more trails and tribulation of being a teen ( minus the in your face Taboo of Spring Awakening). The story was very relatable to me, even though im several decades past my teen years. The show should be appealing to all age groups. |

13 is a wonderful day at the theater Review by: coolboi952, Sep 21, 2008 |
Saw the show on saturday afternoon the 21 st. I really enjoyed the show it was very cute. I cant believe that for most of these kids it was the broadway debut as they all acted like pros. It is a very high energy show and moves pretty fast. I really enjoyed the opening number and also the finale of the show. I found that the show was easy relatable to anyone who remembers what it was like to be 13. I myself am ... read more 26 and still enjoyed it more then high school musical. Which I find extremely corny and not well written. This has a great score by the wonderful Jason Robert Brown he also wrote the lyrics as well. The book by Dan Elish and Robert Horn is very well done and is what kids are saying nowadays, but not in the corny way a very relalistic way. The dancing is very high energy and more street and hip hop which is the current trend right now. They even have a DDR dance off, which was a little much but still alot of fun for anyone who has played the game. As for the talent the boy who played evan who is played by Graham Philips during the week and saturday night. But on sat and sunday day performances is played by corey J. Snide who was wonderful. I really enjoyed his perfromance and will say that it will only get better as the show goes on. also noteworthy was the girl who played patrice Allie Trimm who plas evan's love interested. Her songs rock and he voice was so mature for a girl her age. Really the whole cast nails this show and you can really tell the love doing it so much. Another thing to bring up is that this is the first show on broadway that the whole cast and pit is comprised entirely of teenagers. But like i have said you totally forget that they are so young. So take the whole family or go with friends but you really should check out this one of kind show and check out the rising stars of broadway. I know I will be going again.
