never again Review by: fry, Oct 22, 2012 |
(see David Copperfield Production response at the bottom of this review )
Saw his show in 2007, thought is was pretty good. just saw him again in 2012. Couldn`t beleive it, the exact same show. Still picks out `random ` peoplple from audience to assist by throwing a frisbee or beach ball. As I was waiting for a cab to take me back to my hotel, saw all the random assistants all getting in to the same stretch limo. At least use a back door.... read more. His show is such a joke.
Response from the show management:
"While of course, we welcome feedback and opinions both positive and negative, I felt compelled to write as this review contains objectively false claims.
Specifically, the review alleges that Mr. Copperfield uses actors in his magic performances, and that the reviewer "saw all the random assistants getting into the same stretch limo."
This is impossible. Every night in our show, 13 audience members are selected at random (and visibly vanish!). Those participants are selected at random by throwing silver beach balls into the audience. Naturally, David could not possibly have laser-like-accuracy in that process, and if this reviewer were to attend 10 shows in a row, they would see different audience members, selected at random, involved in every single performance."

Copperfield at MGM Grand Review by: Michael D, Mar 27, 2012 |
| I've seen the show 4 times now and I am blown away every time. Being a fan of magic, I've seen my fair share of magic shows over the years and I can confidently say that Copperfield's is the best. Highly recommend! |

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! He totally phoned it in. Review by: Jamie, Oct 18, 2011 |
| This show was a complete waste of money. I felt like I was in an elementary school auditorium and it was magic day. He completely phoned it in. I kept reassuring myself that this was just the pre show. That he was just warming up the audience. There is no showmanship. He basically stands on the stage, talks in a very monotone voice, does a few basic tricks, and shows a few videos. Definately not worth more than $15 and that's pushing it. ... read more I hate to say it like this, but he is definately a has been. Major disappointment. |

Review by: , Jul 18, 2011 |
| Had a agreat time at this one. Been watching David my entire life. My seats were front row, center stage, and I still have no idea how he did anything! People vanishing, cars appearing, amazing slight of hand! I was smiling the entire show. I don't think many in our audience knew exactely how to take his sarcasm and straight forward dry jokes, but I thouroughly enjoyed it. He seemed to be actually poking fun at those that were not ... read more paying attention. Haha! Some cheese? Yes. Amazing magic? Absolutely. Worth it to see a legend in action doing what he does best? No question. |

David Copperfield experience Review by: Coletrain, Jul 18, 2011 |
Loved the show. I went with girlfriend, my brothers, and their girls and we all loved the show. It was the highlight of our weekend to be honest and we all go to Vegas several times a year and have even seen several of the Cirque shows. I highly recommend the show, there was comedy, magic, and my girlfriend was even picked to go on stage for one of the tricks and I know she knew nothing about it so there's no way they could ... read more have planted her in the audience, which so many people thinks actually happens. Great entertainment, great time, highly recommend.

Do not waste your time and money.! choose another show for your money! Review by: Savana, Jul 3, 2011 |
Do not waste your time and money.! I went on 7//2011. All the negative comments are true. I was hoping for real magic and being amazed by this, but it was boring. I do not know why the show is so expensive, it is not worth it. DC wastes a lot of time on silly things. As others say, he only picks beautiful women on the audience, his jokes are not really funny and did not understand the purpose of so many videos about himself and how good he ... read more was. His magic is nothing to be amazed of, if you think about it you can realize what he did. Actually he looks old and tired. Sorry to dissapoint all his fans. The only trick that it is nice is the one with the flower. |

A must-see! Review by: anthony86, Jun 28, 2011 |
This was by far my favorite Vegas trip to date. I've seen many shows and nothing competes with Copperfield. Even 'O', which was my previous favorite. This is a must-see if you haven't had the pleasure of seeing David in person. I grew up on his tv specials so you can imagine my excitement |

Copperfield is outstanding! Review by: JakeTheSnake, Jun 6, 2011 |
I was blown away by his performance. He truly is the the best magician. I've seen many of the greats like Penn and Teller, Lance Burton, etc but David takes the cake. What I loved the most was how he got the crowd into it by having them join him on Twitter. The fact that he's using Social Media to stay up to date with technology is awesome. He even picked a winner to meet him after the show if they Tweeted something nice during his performance.... read more. AWESOME! |

Amazing illusions with funny and touching stories! Review by: JT, Jun 3, 2011 |
David's show was mind-blowing! From start to finish, I was completely amazed that each illusion just got better and better. David has a way of connecting with the audience through touching and funny stories. The butterfly story was beautiful, touching, and incredible. Don't listen to the haters. David puts on one hell of a show! |

Less talk more action Review by: , Apr 28, 2011 |
| Was kind of dissappointed in the show the tricks were great but he had so much filler to fill the time slot. Was a good enough entertainer just wish there was more of his tricks and less tv and pictures as thast is what i paid so much to see. Seems like a nice person tho. I've tryed to see this show for years but never could get good seats. Was a let down. |

dont bother Review by: bru, Apr 13, 2011 |
| I think this was one of the worst shows I have ever seen....If David even tried to show some emotion or excitment it would have helped. The tricks were all old hack with no new twists. I have seen better majic on the streets of new york for free. I am sorry but I have to say this show was a huge waste of time and money. |

Very poor performance--Don't waste your money Review by: Rich A, Mar 8, 2011 |
I went to his performance March 5/2011 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and was very disappointed. The first 7 minutes was a video of old clips of celebrities just mentioning his name, then he came on stage like he was sleepwalking and fell flat trying to be funny. It seemed he was just basking in his ego/reputation and just going through the motions of a stale/outdated and scripted act. It looked like he was bored-- there was no excitement ... read more or 'magic' to his demeanor. Then there was yet another long video of a performance years ago which just confirmed he has outlived his prime many years ago. I would not see his 'show' for free, let alone $108. per ticket. What a rip-off! |

Check it out! Review by: will0811, Nov 3, 2010 |
This show was awesome and I definitely recommend it to anyone headed to Vegas. Copperfield has a great stage presence, which isn't surprising considering how long he's been doing this. Also, there's a variety of tricks that include audience participation. And for all the tricks, you really don't know how he's doing it! The show is only about 90 minutes, which was the perfect amount of time.

Getting Obvious & Predictable Review by: Lorraine7, Nov 2, 2010 |
Man its a shame just how far David has let himself as well as the quality of his shows go. Not only has his shows become old & repetitive, but obvious as well, which is really sad because he used to put on grade-a shows back in his prime. I've seen his grandfather lottery trick before, where the first time I saw it I actually fell for the whole license plate bit being a "special part just for tonight's show", involving his grandfather's ... read more license plates. Then I saw the same exact sequence AGAIN, with the license plates AGAIN. Its bad enough seeing the same show more than once, but when it gives the illusion away, that makes it even worse. The same thing happened when he made an "audience member" teleport to Perth Australia, only to see the SAME audience member teleport a year later. Bottom line, he's just gotten lazy & just coasts through his now hour & 10 minute show thats half live magic/half video. I will surely miss the OLD David Copperfield.

Absolutely Amazing Review by: GreenBeanzRULE, Nov 2, 2010 |
AMAZING! I want to see the show again just to try and figure out how he does it! The way he interacted with the audience was fantastic, I really felt like I knew him. My favorite illusion was the huge fan. How did he appear all the way in the back of the theater? Totally worth the money. Come out to Alabama David, we would love to see you again in our home town! |
