Brooke Shields will be joining The Addams Family cast on Tuesday June 28, 2011.  She will replace Tony – Award winner Bebe Neuwirth in the role of Morticia Addams opposite Roger Rees, who plays Gomez Addams. Bebe Neuwirth’s final performance will be June 26. The Addmas Family plays at Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theater.

New Cast Announced for Rent Off-Broadway!

The cast for the latest Off-Broadway production of Rent at the New World Stages has been revealed! Heading the new cast will be Arianda Fernandez as Mimi Marquez, Matt Shingledecker as Roger Davis, Adam Chanler-Berat as Mark Cohen, Annaleigh Ashford as Maureen Johnson, and Corbin Reid as Joanne Jefferson. Rent begins previews on July 14th at New World Stages, with opening night set for August 11th.

Rent is a modern take on the classic Puccini opera, La Boheme, set in NYC’s East Village. It follows  a group of young artists learning to survive, falling in love, finding their voices and living for the moment.

Arcadia Box Office Opens Today!

The box office for Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia opens today for ticket purchase at the Ethel Barrymore theater, located on 243 West 47 Street. Arcadia’s previews begin on Feb. 26 with opening night set for Mar. 17 and a limited run until June 19, 2011.

Arcadia is set in April 1809 in a stately home in Derbyshire.  Thomasina, a gifted pupil, proposes a startling theory, beyond her comprehension. All around her, the adults, including her tutor Septimus, are preoccupied with secret desires, illicit passions and professional rivalries. Two hundred years later, academic adversaries Hannah and Bernard (Lia Williams and Billy Crudup) are piecing together puzzling clues, curiously recalling those events of 1809, in their quest for an increasingly elusive truth.

Directed by David Leveaux, the cast includes Margaret Colin, Billy Crudup, Raúl Esparza, Glenn Fleshler, Grace Gummer, Edward James Hyland, Byron Jennings, Bel Powley, Tom Riley, Noah Robbins, David Turner and Lia Williams.

West Side Story to close Jan. 2 2011- final chance to get discount tickets !

The Broadway revival of West Side Story, playing at the Palace Theatre, is set to close Jan 2, 2011, after having played a total of 775 preview and regular performances. This beats the original production’s run of 732 performances! 

As of today, Sept. 21, 2010, the role of Maria will be played by Sarah Amengual, who will replace Josefina Scaglione in leading  the show’s 48 member cast to the end of the show’s run.

Patti Labelle to join Fela! Cast

Lady Marmalade herself, Patti LaBelle, steps into the role of Funmilayo Anikulapo-Kuti in the Tony-nominated musical Fela! LaBelle takes over the role from Tony winner Lillias White, who will play her last performance on September 13th.

Fela! runs through January 2nd  at the  Eugene O’Neill Theatre.
