Winners of the 2012-13 Outer Critics Circle Awards

The Winners of the 2012-13 Outer Critics Circle Awards were announced today. The big winner was Pippin, which earned a number of awards including Outstanding Revival of a Musical as well as Outstanding Director of a Play and Outstanding Choreographer. Matilda The Musical, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Kinky Boots and My Name Is Asher Lev also won multiple awards. The Assembled Parties Now Extended Through June 16th!

Manhattan Theater Club has extended The Assembled Parties through June 16, 2013. This drama, about  a Jewish family living on the Upper West Side in 1980, is written by Tony Award winner Richard Greenberg and stars Tony nominee Jessica Hecht and Tony Award winner Judith Light. Glee Star, Jane Lynch, is Joining the Cast of Annie!

Jane Lynch, the Emmy award winning “Glee” star, will make her Broadway debut in Annie. Lynch will be playing the role of  Miss Hannigan, the domineering orphanage matron. She will be playing the role for a limited eight week engagement, starting on May 16, 2013.  Katie Finneran, who currently plays the role of Miss Hannigan, will be leaving the production to film a new NBC series alongside Michael J. Jekyll & Hyde Officially Opens on Broadway!

Jekyll & Hyde officially opens on Broadway tonight at the Marquis Theatre. Previews for the show began on April 5th.  Constantine Maroulis plays the role of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. hyde opposite Grammy-Nominated R&B singer Deborah Cox as Lucy. Maroulis is probably best known as a finalist on “American Idol” also won a Tony award for his performance in Rock of Ages, playing the role of Drew. Wendy Williams to Join Cast of Chicago

Wendy Williams, best known for her weekday talk show “The Wendy Williams Show,” is set to make her Broadway debut with the role of “Mama” in Chicago. Williams will be part of the cast for a seven-week engagement starting on June 25, 2013. She will succeed Christine Pedi, who currently plays the role of “Mama.”
